Freeway Protests and Solution? Is there?

You know, I've been pondering the title of this thread. "Is there a solution?" (You know... (Solution. Is there?") I stumbled across this chart, which reflects police homicides per capita but has an interesting race-based separation built into it.

I'd suggest we could solve this by implementing policies which result in the chart having roughly equal bars for all 3 races. I know that's a reduction to absurdity, but it is the measure by which we can tell how unequal our police forces are in how they engage with minorities. What policies need changing? I'm no expert on law enforcement- I just know that less violent tactics can be adopted, that a culture of de-escalation is necessary to protect rights, and that department culture is largely a reflection of department leadership mentality.

I think that blocking traffic is terrible. I posted on Nextdoor.com about this. I said "I really appreciated the peaceful protests in my city, but I wished that people would not block traffic", and I got roasted!!!!

It's because people can't envision life outside of their own and since all they use the freeway for is commuting and going someplace fun, then that must be what everyone uses the freeway for. Ask an emergency services worker what they think about it.

Nice, a personal attack coupled with a baseless assumption of my travel history because we have differing views.

And still no answer to the questions, juts shit-stirring.

Glad you're making such solid contributions to the discussion. :thumbup

So you're saying you have a black friend?

Neither of you know anything about Guatemala, that's obvious. Nor obviously anything about real oppression/repression. That's what my posts have been about. And I posited an example. But no, let's twist that.

You really need to leave your parent's basement, at least figuratively speaking.:rofl

Cool, thanks for your desire to set a super high bar on oppression which allows tons of room to increase existing oppression. Hopefully there's a nation left once everything meets your standards. Maybe you spent a little too much time in Guatamala.

I have not discounted your input as to the validity of your claims, so I really have no idea what the fuck you're going on about.
Your example was noted and referenced specifically when I asked how many tanks it takes before one is allowed to term it fascist.

This is now the third time you have directly ignored my question and instead misdirect the conversation, while implicitly ignoring anything regarding my actual statement.

And another insult to boot.

Hey mrmarklin what's that word you use to describe free education after the 12th grade?

Man, I totally had to delete that app a long time ago.

If you tune out the bullshit media in this country that softens everything up and look at what we look like overseas, it looks pretty damn oppressive.

:wtf First time I'm hearing this...haven't we been clamoring on about how the media does the opposite in order to attract views / clicks? Wouldn't that also apply to media in other countries?? :wtf

You've never watched the Mexican news have you? Bloody body count in full display.

Did you hear what happened in Boston?

In Boston, during a verbal dispute, an unarmed teenage boy was forcefully hit in the head with the butt of a weapon by local law enforcement.

Word of the incident spread quickly, and a large number of locals gathered in the street where the incident had happened to protest almost immediately.

As the crowd grew, angry protesters shouted slogans; some business owners, fearing property damage, shut their doors. The local authorities called for uniformed backup; backup came, well-armed.

The assembly was deemed "unlawful," and the crowd was ordered to disperse. The protesters began to throw dirt clods in response.

In response, multiple uniformed law enforcers fired on the crowd. The first protester to die was a black man and the authorities justified the shooting by claiming that they "feared for their lives".

The year was 1770, the authorities were British soldiers, the protest would later be called the Boston Massacre, and the first protester killed in that conflict was Crispus Attucks, a black man considered by many to be a heroic American patriot and the first casualty of the American Revolution.

If, while reading this story, you found yourself siding with the authorities and thinking that the protesters should have dispersed when ordered, and/or that the protesters armed with dirt and sticks deserved to be met with deadly force by armed law enforcement, be aware that you chose the side of the tyrant King George III, not the American patriots.

Ponder that.

Copy/pasted.

But this is America not England here we do what the authorities tell you or you get the crap beat out of you (unless it is on camera) or worse.

I am very slow to anger. I am very slow to aggravated response.

I detest civil disobedience. I loathe street protesters. I prefer for looters to be shot on sight.

However, I have a strong expectation that Government agents wil be held accountable for these direct and intentional assaults on the media.

This open and intentional attack against the 1st Amendment will not stand.

I believe this nation is very close now to the thing I wished never to see but have always prepared for. Good Americans must remain Good Americans. By any means necessary.

Preferring looters are shot on sight and simultaneously being upset about an attack on the 1a is philosophically inconsistent, imo.

I assume that's sarcasm?

Not at all, I am confused as to what mistaken position you come from where you see a conflict.

Certainly you are not under some wildly confused notion that the right to petition government for redress of grievances includes the damage and theft of personal property?
