Get Fit, Stay Fit, Feel Good - 2026

Had a good couple of rides over the weekend. Leg offers no pain while doing so although my cheeks get a bit tired from smiling so much. :teeth

Just did my first "Physical Training Session" to take the fitness up a level. To start that it was getting down a level as in getting on the floor. A true test of being :afm199

Saw Bud last weekend and he looked like what I want to look like at his age...Getting pretty darn trim and beefy. Impressive in such short period of time. Well done so far Bud!

Thank Berto. A long way to go from my perspective.
Gaining muscle at 68 seems near impossible, but I know I am as I am getting stronger.

35 weeks straight of at least 4 days a week shows in my 24hr app.

I went in to do work with the Trainer today after a check in with the PT women yesterday. The Gym did not tell the man that the Training room would be in use for a company meeting so at 11 when I got there it was a no go as there is not a good spot to do floor work and stretching stuff. Oh well. I was planning on an upper body session after anyway and just lit that up instead. 2 solid hours. Finished at 1pm and still feeling the pump.

Really solid bench press session with a surprise 10 reps at 250 that sort of blew me away. Topped it with a solid triple at 280 and then a solid rep at 290... with a fail on rep 2.

Still making progress... still excited to be getting better and healthier.

Starting a no alcohol period to see how that affects things. Hopefully lose a little weight.

don't tell anyone, but if someone shakes my hand the wrong way right now they can make me cry. like my father in law did last week :cry :laughing

guess i smacked my hand pretty good 2.5 weeks ago during the lowside and bruised the cartilage and tendons. today i am learning about the tfcc. i am debating ordering a 'wrist widget' brace that would help immobilize things but i think i am past that point. it's $30 for a strap...just to prevent it from moving the wrong way...it only hurts when my right hand twists to the outside / ulnar side under load, which is during heavy braking...i've already adjusted my riding and i can still ride the adv bike without pain and am taking a break from the sport bike until the bruising and pain is gone

i am still lifting weights... i won't add more weight to the bar until after this thing is behind me but i'm only lifting 75lbs including the bar so i think it's fine. if keep my wrist in line there isn't pain
Its worth getting it checked out, i had a wrist injury from dropping my bike and I feel like it never fully healed.

Appreciate the feedback; I just scheduled a visit with my new doctor and will bring it up with him :thumbup

This made me chuckle a bit. Think how much I’d have to ride to have a 26000% increase in 2027. I’d have to ride like Robert.

:rofl

According to VeloViewer, the furthest someone recorded to Strava in 2025 was 64500 km / 40100 miles.

I have made it to a milestone that I’ve been watching. My Strava streak hit 4 YEARS. In that time I’ve recorded 5.5x workouts per week. 🥳

It's gonna blow you away. Are you using creatine regularly? What's in your morning "shake"?

3000mi will fly by with a comfy saddle
My body loves the cycling. Except the saddle contact zones. I am really looking forward to getting this sorted! I get home on Sunday and will be out on the bike by Tuesday to test things out with your saddle.

Yes I am using creatine.

Morning routine:
Coffee at about 6:45 to 8.
Flavonol cocoa with the creatine after but waiting till I hit 16 hours. Then a protein drink, a banana and walnuts or the protein drink with sausage and eggs.

I am just finishing two steak burgers now. I will not touch food again until 9:30.

Fucking the no booze better pay off or I am going to start drinking. :laughing

Twist one up maybe? :smoking

Won’t curtail the appetite though….

Same routine as before. Knee spasms aren’t happening as often. My mobility and cardio improved greatly in boxing. I am still very conservative but I am adding weight every week! Still aiming to do 2 warm up sets then 3x10 working sets while aiming to struggle the last few reps but not pushing to failure. I really miss doing Wendlers 5/3/1 like I did in my 20s but imma stay with this method until the weights stop going up.

Also I just realized that the electrolyte mix I was taking with my collagen/peptides before the gym had 200gm of caffeine in it. Explains why I was in bed by 9 but wide awake till midnight 😱. I thought I was just struggling with a bout of insomnia which I’ve always struggled with. Gains should be better now considering I’ll be getting better sleep now 😂

I just started 12" step ups yesterday as guided by my Physical Therapist.
Added that to my leg weight lifting routine.

Bike for 10
Warm up PT movements.
Quick Stretch

Then weight machines:
Leg Press
Calf raises
Inner and outer thigh machine

PT gravity stuff:
Heal drops (standing on an elevated pad).
12" step ups (usually do the split leg squat things - always forget what they are called - need to do both as I get stronger).

Back to weight machine - Leg extension and Hamstring curls.

Result.. Prince was toast last night. :laughing
Feels OK this morning though.. just a good sore.

Training session today at 11 followed with some upper body stuff (not the full go). Think I will ask the Trainer to focus on core and stretching as to NOT flame out the leg.

Tomorrow I will finish off the upper body crap and give the leg a needed day off other than stretching.

Sunday :dunno Maybe a cardio endurance run on the stationary bike.

I made a New Year’s resolution at the beginning of 2025 to use the stairs up to my 6th floor apartment, instead of the elevator, which I’ve actually managed to keep. :laughing

my smartphone keeps track of my daily “flights” of stairs climbed—and ona good day it’s up above 100 flights (a benefit of living in a city with hills and lots of pedestrian stairs). I mostly do the stairs two at a time, which I guess is close to 12” …

fun following your updates. I remember how painful the stairs were when I started. :facepalm

(also the no-alcohol thing. :toothless )

Did the training thing today. It was all core stuff (brutal) and some stretching.

Fricking wiped me out. I was planning on weight lifting after as noted. When done it was no F'ing way.

If I could have gone home and laid down I would have... damn.
I am ready for a nap. :wow

Also... My Trainer is a bicycle dude. Rides every day. He uses the same App as y'all. His milage so far this year is over 10K. He did not believe somebody did over 100k in a year. (284 miles a day avg).
