Golden State Warriors 2017-2018

INTERESTING....

Reports say Dray will refuse the contract extension offer this offseason, hoping he will qualify for a Super Max after the 2018-2019 season -- but he has to win DPOY, MVP, or make 1st Team All-NBA to even qualify for it.

Kawakami (yeah I know) put something in one of his long form articles for The Athletic that the Dubs are looking into what would be needed to acquire Anthony Davis from New Orleans.

If they could come up with any sort of deal centered around Dray and NOT giving up Klay and Bell, that probably wraps up at least 3 of the next 5 championships.

Steph/Klay/KD/AD/Bell is ridiculous.

That’s a lineup! That’s a Bill Walsh move, trade one of your top player before their peak or big payday.

I can see Draymond getting dealt. If he does, Lebron will do anything he can to team up with Draymond. That would be dangerous as well.

I’m excited for the summer and how young the warriors get and what they do with the 28th pick AND if a team will learn and not let Lacob buy a 2nd rd pick for $3.5mil again.

Doesn’t Draymond have two years left on his contract? If so a re-up now would be silly.

Wow. I bow to your superior fandom but that would really surprise me. I'd hate to see Draymond go. Like Steph, he is a somewhat smaller guy who plays very big. To me, he can change the game by force of will.

If Draymond goes to the Cavs poor Kestrel's head will explode. RIP.

I really hope the Warriors keep him.

Did you guys miss the BeckyBron sighting at the parade? (Stolen from twitter).

Pic of KD's condo

Pic of living room model unit from the 181 Fremont website. The view and window design looks similar from what we can see. The building has 56 floors...

EDIT: Added pic of Millennium Tower/301 Mission. (the sinking building) Similar windows and he's sitting on the ledge with his trophies. I think it's this one - you were right. It has 58 floors

Thanks, man you are a better fanboi stalker than me!:laughing

Let's go to KD's place and tell him he's great!!! Weirdly ironic if the guy who is always stooping over to hide his height lives in the leaning tower of Babylon-by-the-Bay!

so the 14th is the anniversary of 'the shot' from Jordan. many many years have passed, and I can't think of a single one that could hold snuff comparatively. there has been a few replicas by Kobe, sure, but not quite the same. Now the trend seems to be to shoot then run down the court. which looks cool, but not quite as cool.

this just in: Jordan was the man, man

It definitely would. But I don't think GSW would do Draymond like that.

Latest rumor mill says that GSW might put up Thompson and Green for Davis. There's reluctance to break up a team that just won, and I don't know how well that would work out long term, but...

... it's going to be silly season for sure pretty soon. I think we're going to see a lot of big moves happen in the NBA this summer.

Yeah, no way they will trade Klay. At all. None.

He has openly stated he'll take less money to stay with GSW to win, and he's an elite wing defender and one of the best shooters in the league.

On the other hand, Dray already said he won't sign an extension and wants a Super Max after next year.

When it's a business move, it's an easy decision.

yeah, I don't see the Warriors paying Draymond Super Max money.

I don't see why Kestrel would object to Draymond, I mean, Dellavedova was a dirty player and he loved him. :teeth

To even qualify for a supermax he has to either win DPOY, MVP, or 1st Team All-NBA next year.

He's basically gambling on himself and trying to maximize his earnings, which I totally understand and am all in favor of. The realization though is that makes him the most likely to be let go.

He hasn't changed with the Bucks... that is when he can play.

I don't think Green will ever pull in endorsement money like a Curry or Lebron can. To me it makes sense then that he is trying to the super max deal.

Green, 27, was a second-round pick in the 2012 NBA draft. His first contract was for three years and $2.6 million. It was a huge sum of money for someone who grew up poor, but not something he could retire on. “My first year, I didn’t hire a financial advisor. I said I’m going to do this on my own. I want to learn how to pay bills. I want to learn how money works and if I screw it up, I screw it up,” says Green. “I can’t live the rest of my life off this 400 grand I’m going to take home anyway, but I can teach myself about money.”

Green’s rookie deal turned out to be a bargain for the Warriors as he developed into one of the NBA’s top players. Green’s big score came in the summer of 2015 after helping the Warriors win their first NBA title in 40 years and finishing runner-up for defensive player of the year. Green inked a five-year, $82 million contract extension with the team. His salary is $15.3 million this season, plus an estimated $4 million off the court, including endorsements with Nike, Verizon and others.

He seems generous too.

Curry or Lebron?

No, but he does have 4-5 endorsements with Nike, Verizon, etc.

I mean, I get it. I'm sure someone will give him a max deal, but I don't think it will be GSW and I think that will also hurt his potential earnings when he's not winning rings every year.

It's more like... You played against them in the finals for the last four years.. Bad blood isn't the right description.. or maybe it is? I don't think he'd ever want to go there, and I don't think they'd send him there. A good front office tries to respect a player's wishes to some extent.

Supermax? Ehhh. Can he pull in more money than he's making right now? Absolutely. He is in some weird way the glue that makes the Warriors function... but it's going to be tough to hold that roster year after year.

It's a cycle every dominant team goes through. Players get good, they succeed, they receive (and have earned with those championships) more money. But you start to lose out on draft picks, and the long term is sacrificed to be competitive for 3-5 years. Eventually your star players get older, the ratio of on the court value vs. pay check starts to slide, and suddenly.... you're the Miami Heat.

At some point, high value low cost rookies show up and kick your ass, and the cycle starts all over again. That was GSW in 2015.
