I worked at a Suzuki dealership when they first came out and the first guy to buy one traded in a Buell.
I remember during the delivery telling him "Dude, you're going from a Sopwith Camel to an F-15; have fun, good luck, and above all, be careful!" even though he had a long riding history. When he came back after a couple of thousand miles for one of the recalls on it, he said he still had a laugh from what I told him that day because "it was true"...
Yes, they will be a classic, much like an original R-1, or the Smokin' Joes CBR, or the CBR900RR.... but only if they're taken care of.
