Hayabusa; Future "Classic" ?

Am I the only one who hates the "fat suit" look of the busa? I don't care if it's got 200HP or 500HP - how can you love it when it's so ugly?

its the most efficient shape to use when you want to fuck the horizon and get all up in its guts, dawg.

Years before I got into motorcycling, I was at friend's place and her boyfriend had a black Hayabusa. I looked at it and told him it was just...menacing. Later I find out it's the fastest production bike MADE. lol

You know...I never liked the undertail kits on the busa, but with the high pipes, yours looks good.

Thanks! Not mine anymore though, it's moved on to a new owner who is hopefully getting as much fun out of it as I did.

I'll NEVER sell mine. Makes me smile every time I look at it. :love
I'll mod it when I can't hold it up anymore. :teeth

I'm jealous. Really! Yours has always been a good looking bike! :thumbup

I thought it was ugly as sin when they first came out. Slowly the look grew on me. I never really went searching for one, just got a deal that was too good to pass up on one...glad I did. The more you look at them, the better they start to look :laughing

how would you rate it compared to your FJR????

I sold the Busa so I could buy the FJR. One long distance bike gone so another could come in. I loved the look and the sound of the high mount pipes on the busa but that keeping them on meant I couldn't mount saddle bags, and I got tired of stacking all my crap on the back seat. It made for a BIG stack if I was camping with tent, sleeping bag, clothes, fishing pole...blah blah blah. Anyway yeah, got the FJR now, it's exactly what I wanted but...

The bikes are totally different. The Hayabusa is a rocketship. You FEEL the power, it just launches. The FJR...it feels like a big scooter. It's comfy, easy to ride and easy to pack way more than you need...but it doesn't give that rush that the Hayabusa does. They may both be sport touring bikes but the Hayabusa is leaning WAY towards the sport side of things (though it's also suprisingly comfy on long rides) and the FJR in my opinion is leaning way towards the touring side. Refined and mellow, that's how I see the FJR.

Actually, I might be in the market for a more, ahem, experienced bike....I hear some folks have upwards of 30K miles on theirs, and still running :wow

I'm @ 29,978 currently. (well last time I dropped gas in it).. And I've heard of them getting 45K + on the motor before showing signs of being "tired".

I figure around 35-40k I'll drop the steering stem bearings (or if needed before), wheel bearings, swing arm bearings, and a new motor in it. Might even say screw it and rebuild the motor with a "big bore" kit.. Hello 1349cc :teeth

Nice color's on your old one Ezekiel.

My first one:

I think the busa will have a slightly bigger following then the CBR900 and the ZX-12 (and my FAV of the big boys) the blackbird XX

unfortunally they sold soo many of them they will never be "rare" now... a CLEAN low mile one might be hard to find but never rare...

thats why i want a ZX-14 :D

I think your key problem is that you're looking at 'Busas, not riding them.

I put 71k on mine before second gear started to go out, I put it on a dyno to confirm the second gear slip(I wanted to make sure it wasn't an electrical problem), it was still really strong and still feels faster than current liter bikes.

I am caught between fixing it or parting it out...:sad

Yes, but they have all been wrecked or chopped. I've seen stock first years sold for 50% over msrp already.

Anyone who doesn't appreciate teh 'busa, hasn't spent enough time with one. :teeth
:x

Or they have a ZX14:teeth

But a classic? More likely the CBR1100XX:thumbup

The Busa just looks too much like a condom over a ballpark frank.

Or as a sport touring fiend of a friend of mine says about his ......." Hayabusa , for when you just have to be three states away overnight."

His has 86000 miles and counting on it with no problems , he's replaced clutch , tires ( of course) along with brake pads and standard maintenance ,I'm actually fairly impressed with it as a long term keeper even though it *is* big heavy and long.

Big, heavy and long are relative terms. The bike steers slower then hyperpsorts bikes but it handles as well or better then most other bikes. Its funny how the only people that rag on the Busa are people that have never ridden on a Busa.

Hell, I'm big, heavy and long but it doesn't hold me back either.
