HEEEELP I NEED A RADAR!

200+ RULIN' THE FREEWAZE!!!!1!!1

I like Moike's idea of a gumball rally to LA on fiddies, I'm in. :toothless

Ahhhhh yes... this was a very good thread

I totally remember that. It was awesome.

Back to the initial question on radar detectors (vs wisdom of riding at high speed at night), check out: http://www.radarforbikes.com/testimonials/

Adaptive Technologies looks pretty cool...supposed to be the only radar detector designed specifically for a motorcycle. I haven't tried it yet, but intend to. This link also gets you to product specs and reviews.

I have used Valentine 1 successfully in a couple of my sportscars over the years, but am sold on the differences between use in a cage and use on a bike.

I would be interested if anyone has personal experience with Adaptive technologies?

Wrap the whole bike and your whole person in foil. That ought to reflect lasers. Also works wonders against tasers too. Won't stop bullets though, if it happens to get that far.

:rofl

(I'm just reading this thread for the first time...good stuff)

I've been riding w/the Adaptive set up for about 10k miles now, make that 10k ticket free miles. I installed the LED indicator on my cluster, and they have an audio output that you can connect to helmet speakers or earbuds as well.
Unit is 100% waterproof and works very well. I know for sure that it has saved me from several tickets, both radar and laser. The laser save came while riding down the PA turnpike with moderate traffic, it picked up the laser tagging a vehicle several lengths ahead of me and gave me time to get off the throttle. I would recommend this unit to anyone that has a habit of inching above the posted speed limits on freeways or secondary rural roads.

i would get something more comfortable before worrying about cutting the commute time down.

It's always obvious when people don't read the whole thread first... :rofl

AOW: cool! excellent reinforcement. I'm going Adaptive this summer. thanks for sharing.

Does anyone want to tell him they aren't very effective against laser (lidar) or just let him find out on his own?

just to put things in perspective.
if you want to cut a 3 hour commute down to 1, you'll need to go at 3x the speed. And if we assume that you do the speed limit and it takes 3 hours, you'll have to ride at 195 mph assuming the original speed you travel at was 65. So your only solution is the 'busa :ride

adaptive sucks ass compared to escort 9500ix, you will need to be creative in getting a mount to work, but i will be glad to help. I traded in my adaptive to get a discount on it and never been happier. Adaptive will pick up everything including the traffic speed monitoring devices along all our highways. Escort has an auto learn with GPS that eliminates those, not to mention it reads a lot further out then the adaptive. I use the hard system that uses a red LED light inside the helmet to warn you.
