HEEEELP I NEED A RADAR!

We should have a "Gumball" rally from LA-SF. See who can make it in the least time. Busa's, ZX14's, Blackbirds, etc. Winner gets a prize. Course we would have to get chp's blessing (NOT!) I-5 would be my guess as the fastest route..?

I just drove that route yesterday and traffic was flying! At times a group of about 20 cars was cruising with a sustained speed of 92 mph.

Of course, I didn't do that, I just drafted a truck to get maximum mileage. :nerd

someones intellect is so far in a fat chicks pussy that its a good thing for me.. :twofinger

i thank thy internet for morons such as this, may i be blessed with a few more sprinkled here and there to make my work day go by faster..

:thumbup

Reasonable speeding is one thing, blasting along at triple-digits and expecting not to get popped is a totally different story. Don't be a moron.

+1

It's possible to "make time" in a somewhat reasonable way but teasing the bears will get you in to trouble sooner or later.

You may successfully make that trip, once, maybe twice at unreasonable speeds, but you cannot beat the law of averages.

Putting the profound stupidity of the idea aside, isn't worring about radar a bit like bringing a knife to a gunfight? Aren't most agencies using lidar now anyhow? So yeah, you can detect it, but you're marked at that point anyhow.

I just got back from driving to San Diego and I never got hit with LIDAR the entire trip. My Escort 8500 does have a LIDAR detector, for all the good it does (instead of saying "Laser" it should say "You're boned, pull over").

It was Ka band radar all the way.

Actually the best radar detectors work off of scatter, what you need to know is that radar/lidar is being used in the area...

It's like watching someone get shot but having a device that tells you where the shot came from ad how close you are to the shooter.

A radar detector wont help you much the CHP is transitioning to laser and away from radar by the time you pickup laser on your detector all it has done is let you know you are about to be cited.

LIDAR can be jammed. Radar can not be jammed.

LIDAR can be jammed. Radar can not be jammed.

Wait wat? How the heck does the AWACS ECM work then (aircraft)? I guess more accurately it's not jamming as much as overpowering one signal with another.

thanks for all the comments, i asked if there is any good info about any good radars, didnt ask anyone what they think!

:p thats the point of forums...speak your mind ;)

you should post this up in the LEO thread...and they'll most likely tell you this...right when it beeps and you slow down, it lets the LEOs put down their coffee and track you down

well...i heard something familiar on the LEO thread :p

As people have mentioned, you can't outrun the radio. Also, you can't outrun an airplane that's clocking you. Put the two together and you have a nice fat ticket.... or jail time if you're in the triple digits. Not to mention getting your ride impounded in BFE.

:twofinger::rofl

I think our OP's judgement is clouded by youthful passion. :2cents

anything that emits Radio Frequency emissons can be jammed...

Man, his gal must have "sword-swallowing" training. I had a GF like that once; I was almost as hooked on her as this guy is his gf...I got a twinge just thinking about her! :laughing

Needs a ZX14, not a busa...

Needs a similar GF closer to home; easily found...
