How many riders switched to LED headlights from halogen?

my experience with the '24 bmw r1250gs adventure (takes a breath) is that the lighting is so good you forget it's night and you end up riding quicker than you should...because it's still night...but it is pretty sweet :teeth

Are they smoothly progressive or do they 'click' on individually?

ah, so the light beam actually moves; rather than pre-aimed lights turning on as angle increases?

neat.

I’ve read about BMW’s system. Pretty cool if it works as advertised.

Not sure, but I think the Tucker was the first vehicle to have such a system. The center headlight was supposed to steer with the front wheels.

Hey buddy thanks for admitting you're only trying to virtue signal, lets me know you have more desire to call me out than actually effect change.
Get off my nuts bro

I don't understand where virtue signaling plays a part. My comment was about public lambasting instead of debating the subject matter at hand; calling them incorrect and claiming victory. It's a discussion board for the benefit of all. IMO.

But when an opinionated poster says there are disadvantages, he's not wrong. When he says he would never put them on his own vehicle, he's also not wrong. If he says you shouldn't either, "Well, that's just your opinion, man."

Which is also not wrong.

Good point. That being said, I'm in the camp that prefers LED on my own vehicles and NOT on others. I have blue light blocking glasses I'll wear at night some times In heavy traffic. Other drivers LED's can give some light night time spotting for me, at times.

Are you not trying to shame me by making your requests to me public?

Seems like you are. It seems like you're signaling the virtues of your pov when this entire admonishment could have been handled privately.

I believe I made one post about it, and the remainder have been me responding to you or TZ ( @tzrider feel free to double-check my numbers)
Unless you're making a mod request for me to stop responding to people, please stop chastising me.

Thanks, friend. :thumbup

I have a car that will point the headlights into the turn. It's one of those things I thought was too much, why do you need those. Holy crap they are awesome. I have a brand new car that throws out more light, and farther down the road, but I wish it turned the headlights into the turn.

I want to see the results of one of the plug and play adaptive headlights before investing in one.

I posted on a couple HD forums asking if anyone had experience with the adaptive headlights. Someone told me if the driving lights didn't give me enough light then it was too dark to ride. :laughing

I'm not sure I can talk myself out of buying one.

Nope.
Not too much.
Power sliding doors on mini vans.
That's too much.

Kevin, I mentioned the focal length because IT IS THE REASON that it is not physically possible to make an LED replacement that has the same beam pattern as the halogen.

Hold on, where is the physical impossibility with this? Why would it be impossible to put an LED emitter at the same focal point that a halogen light occupied? Not only do I see this as a possibility, but an eminently easy engineering task.

I've been thinking about it, purely for aesthetics.... but they're $600 :cry :wow

This is why LED’s don’t work properly in halogen housings. In short, the way they emit light is different.

(From a Google search.)

Key Emission DifferencesHalogen Bulbs: Emit light in a full 360° pattern from a tiny, centrally located tungsten filament. Headlight and lamp reflectors are precisely engineered around this exact focal point.LED Bulbs: Emit directional light from flat diodes typically arranged on opposing sides of a circuit board (often facing 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock).Impact on Beam Pattern and HousingFocal Mismatch: Because the physical size, shape, and position of an LED chip differ from a wire filament, the optics of a stock reflector housing cannot focus the light correctly.Glare and Scatter: Opinions on Reddit reflect mixed opinions: users note that while some premium LED replacements attempt to mimic the exact filament placement of halogens, cheap LEDs generally scatter light into oncoming traffic and fail to produce a sharp cutoff line.Directionality: LED Technology Guide highlights that LEDs are inherently directional, meaning they rely heavily on the fixture's design to shape the beam rather than casting light evenly in all directions like a halogen.
