I went down last night on Redwood rd

Sorry to hear about your accident man. I hope you heal up and feel better quickly. If you want maybe you could post in crash analysis too so we could diasect and learn from what happend to you. I understand if you don't want too.

haha I guess I am. But Ive got thick skin ;)

I used to have riding pants but they turned up missing (read: stolen)

I posted mainly to thank the ones who helped me out.

Bummer about the pants. And that's nice of you to thank all the folks that helped. Friends are handy people to have around. I've had more than one or two help me out on a few occasions such as yours. I now find myself indebted to many, many people. :laughing Ya gotta love it when you're sitting there enjoying a nice, quiet, sunny Saturday afternoon and your buddy calls up and says, "I'm collecting." I don't even ask what it is I'm doing anymore. I just grab my purse and ask where I need to go.

Best of luck getting you and bike back in one piece.

Thanks Heather! My superhawk is probably totalled but I might buy another and make a frankenstein bike out of the two.

That turn sounds really familiar. I was out there yesterday about thirty minutes before this. Coming from Castro Valley, entering this turn it looks like a left sweeper, but it actually tightens up before you know it; and if you just peek at that wall it grabs you and your in the dirt. I've seen many riders go down there (going fast or slow, gear or no gear), so you're not the only one. Heal up quick. Enjoy your next project - fixing the bike or getting another one!

^truth. ive gone down there, 2 of my friends have gone down there, and ive seen countless others go down there. maybe there should be a sign before entering that turn alerting peeps of whats ahead.:thumbup

Sorry to hear you went down. I wish you a speedy recovery man.. And honestly, if you wanna be protected while you ride without the leathers just pick up the Knee/shin guards. I have the Fox Titan's, they are only $30/pair and have quick release straps.. I like them because I can wear them under my jeans and leave my overpant's for the colder months.

And yet, you posted pics of your crash on BARF?
:facepalm :laughing

Glad to hear you came out relatively unscathed and looks like you're getting some gear out of it after all! Heal up quick & get back out there, man.
:thumbup

Thanks guys, all of you! and i just didnt want to be looked and talked to like im some punk ass squid with no experience.

Will, we actually talked about doing that cause there are like 3 different bike pieces out there. Hopefully CHP doesnt trace the ccarbon fiber pieces back to (CSI style) and get me for littering! haha

Dave, good idea!

Here is a video from a crash on Redwood (not me), same place:

In the Redwood photo thread there was a series of pics where a scooter went down and the rider was taken out by fire and ambulance.

I know exactly where that turn is. It tightens up right at the end and there's a dip there as well (if I remember correctly). I can see how it can cause problems.

I know that you said you did not want or need scolding, but seriously..... If you're out on Redwood you're clearly out riding for fun and looking to enjoy a twisty road. Jeans are not a good choice.

If you can purchase a bike and carbon fiber Dymag wheels and a Scott steering damper and Ohlins rear set up and a Corbin seat and twin yosh CF pipes you can buy a pair of riding pants that are far superior to jeans.

Sorry your hand is broken and sorry you have so much road rash sorry your bike is jacked up and I hope you heal quickly and well.

I bought the bike with all of that already installed... it didnt have the optional leathers installed.
And I just get to this area and started learning the roads, I wasnt out riding hard like most of the others guys go up there for.

His were stolen. I need to get leathers too. :(

Personally, nothing would compel me to rail on Redwood (or anywhere else) without appropriate gear- but that's me.
If you're going to make the choice to ride the twisties without full gear, then at the very least make sure you're wearing knee/shin guards. A broken knee sucks ass... Patellas really weren't designed to function as pucks.
I'd also suggest textile overpants as a temporary measure (until you get leathers)... those can be picked up on NewEnough.com for as little as $99... First Gear HT II

Leathers can be expensive, but there are less expensive options to minimize damage in the event bad things happen.

OP, hope you heal up quick. Crashing sucks.
