*Liam's Wild Ride*

Hey, forgot to mention that if anyone is coming out to one of the next couple races and can bring a good sized package with them, it would be much appreciated. I'm trying to avoid some customs and shipping headaches, and with my own travel schedule, it might just be easier to meet at a race. Thanks everyone!

Liam needs a mule. :D

T-Shirts

Hey Liam,

I'm sure you've been asked a thousand times via P.M. but... I'm going to ask again anyway: :teeth Can I pay you via PayPal for a new Barros/Pramac shirt? I gave that West Honda Pons one I sent you a couple of posts ago to a Brazilian lady that owns a restaurant here in Scottsdale Arizona Rio Sabor Brazilian Steakhouse (noted for those of you passing through here). I take an XL. If you can or wish to, wait until you get to Assen and get me one of those crazy "A-Style" t-shirts with the wayward umlat on the capital A :wow :laughing One of the other things I miss about Brazil besides the women, the beaches, the women, Club Nova, Praia Copababana and Ipanema... and the women, are the screaming deals on the shirts. $8.00 American for even the best ones. At Laguna in '05, Melandri's shirts, like the one you're wearing now, were $35. Crazy! If I'm going to pay that kind of cash, I want one you don't see that often. Then again, it's MotoGP. No one will now what it is anyway.:x So, p.m. me if you wish or post the details. Good luck at LeMans. Can't remember Alex's history there... :confused

Rock the World, Liam!

(Not a Spoiler) :teeth

Whoops. I forgot this one...

It's kinda funny, because you look at this shot and think "Big deal, Alex is in front of Checa, and Elias and some French guy on a yellow bike (!)". Further back is Melandri, dePuniet and Hopkins, trailing some considered also-rans in the past.

But no. Every one of these racers had a stab at the front at LeMans today. Frequent lead changes must have taxed the Pramac d'Antin team to the stops, and I offer my heartfelt huzzah's to another fine finishing effort to you guys. It's a shame Barros had the last lap problem, but that shows (to me at least) that there is still incredible reserves of fight left in him. The mark of a true contender.

The constructors championship shows nicely.

What "last lap" problem?

I watched the race and I didnt' see anything in particular with Alex. I wondered why he fell off the pace so far. What did I miss?:confused

Thanks CURT!! That's awesome that everyone knows what's up, and what it means to fight the good fight. Glad to hear that the AFM'ers and Barfer's were present at the AMA races, and if I was in Cali, you can bet I would have been there, too! One year I blitzed through security on my Monkey and made it into the pits, and it's always a great time at the races. Hope your commentating from the Carousel went well, and looking forward to seeing everyone at Laguna Seca. I'm thinking about having another Barf get-together on a Friday night, and maybe I'll be able to spin up some "Laguna-Specials" to make it even cooler. I know that it's going to be a great race no matter what.

And how about "THE HOFF"! 5th place from 17th on the grid! WOOT! Top Five Baby!

The only other person who made up that many postions was race winner Chris Vermulen, and as we caught up after the race I just know that his confidence is strong. He's so laid back, and one of my favorite riders in the GP world, and I hope he's able to continue making dark horse challenges. It's funny, but some of the Suzuki guys refer to him as the "Little Boy" on the team, because Hopper's been there so long, but you gotta admit, he rides like pure magic in treacherous conditions, and he's notched a 1st and 2nd for them where Hop's only managed a 3rd. Will we see more from him? You Bet! I know he would've won Laguna last year if not for an engine part failure while he was leading the race, and not to bag on Nicky, but Chris is a also first class rider. Laguna promises to be a magnificent race, and I'm really looking forward to it.

The Hondas seemed to do ok in the wet in Le Mans, and this after all the complaints about lack of confidence in the front ends, which is really what counts in a wet race . . . . Why did they do so well? Did something change recently that we don't know about ?? Here's some photos of a couple Hondas, just so I can say I kept up a little with JRace in the photo department, hahaha, starting with Shocker-n-tha-Wet, Dani Pedrosa:

You can really learn a lot by studying these photos back to back.

Adjustable Rake, Trail, and Off-Set. How much, or how little, do you want?

While these may not be the *best* photos, there's a ton of details to pick up on, like how the rider's prefer their handlebars positioned, who likes anti-vibration bar ends (hahahahaha!), and the elbow to knee relationship. Easy things like Nicky's oversize rear rotor and unique rear caliper are obvious, but more importantly, check out the rear wheel placements and also how the rear suspensions are set . . . Chain Force is a major deal on a MotoGP bike, and placement of the rear wheel can have a drastic effect on TC and Feel. Other small things, like Hayden's "Winglets" on his front fairing, don't seem to be doing much, for now . . . . we'll look to see what happens in later races. He's unhurt from the Le Mans race crash, let's just hope everyone is healthy for the future races!

Here's something special I made for you guys: It's Mystery Bike Time! I heard this bike as I was packing up the garage after the race, about 5:30 PM. Something sounded really different to me about it - see if you can name this bike!

Sorry, we don't have any. It's possible Team Wear will be sold later this year, like the custom hardpacks from
Axio, but I don't know when.

Without a Big Money sponsor like a Tobacco company, we just haven't made up any special shirts for the riders. However, I have just received word that the altered Anime shirt that Ian spun up for me is ready - here's a little idea of what I'm talking about. Boo-Yah!

Liam, I took those photos into Photoshop and something interesting emerged when I made all of the images the same size...Nicky's front tire is a smaller diameter than the others. That is unless the angle of the shot on his picture is enough to change the perspective.

Very interesting . . . I should point out that the brake rotors can vary in size, so that sometimes makes tires look like they're different sizes . . . . but it wouldn't surprise me at all if Nicky had switched back to an '06 wheel size when he switched back to the '06 front fork . . . .

It's not conclusive because there is a different angle of the shot. I was measuring between the center of the bolt to the base of the tire after resizing all bikes to the same length from left tire tip to right tire tip.

Flipping back and forth between photo's, it's pretty clear that the bike fits a rider of Pedrosa's height better than a rider of Hayden's height.

You'll have to pick something else to mark off of, something not changeable like the wheels . . . you can alter the bike's length in a couple ways, so that's a bad think to compare from. How about making all the rear frame sections the same - using the swingarm pivot and engine mounting points the same?
