*Liam's Wild Ride*

. Anyone have experience with the Etymotic ER-6i, Sony MDR-EX71, Super.Fi 3 Studio, and Westone UM1?

I'be been through 2 sets of the EX71's and they're pretty darn good. They block out a good amount of noise but you're still able to hear whats going on around you.

The only problem I had with them is the wire sleeves were a bit soft and tend to tear easily when rubbed against something (such as my helmet strap, when I ear them riding). Other than that, great earphones :thumbup

They go for about $37 shipped on ebay

Johnc, Thanks for emailing your friend for me!
Hopefully we'll get something sorted :teeth
Big Pete, that's one of my biggest problems with the Sony's. I destroyed a couple cords and I don't like the uneven cord length. The left earpiece tends to fall out when the extension cable is used, and I despise poor designs.
B12Bill, after reading through the Head-Fi forum and a couple other sites, it looks like the Etymotics are the way to go.

And here's a thought for some of you:
Looking for a unique way to advertise within the Motorcyling Community?
Want to have your company product represented at some of the most prestigious motorcycling events around the world?

MotoLiam is now accepting sponsorship applications for Global Representation! Woot!

You don't have to travel halfway around the world to experience the same stuff as me.
But it helps:teeth

But what the hell. If you're going to go for it, you might as well Really go for it!
+1 :laughing I went for a new country and a new business and gained some great new friends. :thumbup

Go for the ER4's. I've had both. The ER6's are not that great IMO.

I used to be a huge poster on head-fi, but since I found motorcycles, my hobbies have shifted priorities. You can still find me there as 'stan23'

If you want to talk hi-fi headphones, I can talk your ear off. Just PM me.

My home setup:

NS500V -> Tara Labs Axiom -> MG Head OTL MKII (GE 12AX7 - Sovtek 6BQ5) -> HD600

Yes! I run a tube amp for headphones. Anyways, I don't mean to bastardize your thread.

Keep them moto photos coming!

Wow, I didn't notice that. My money's on that brake rotor playing an integral role in the traction control system. It probably has to be used for half the straightaway!

Not likely. It's physically possible, but that would require brakes that are computer controlled (hello ABS) and my guess is that the rules explicitly outlaw anything of that sort. Traction control in racing is almost universally implemented through an ignition interrupt. You can kill only 1 cylinder, 2 cylinders, all, rotate between 1 cycle on each cylinder etc. Thats also has a very fast response time and is not subject to issues like brake wear, heat etc that require an extremely complex computer program and sensor setup.

I'm going to reveal the 'Official' answer soon enough to the Nicky Hayden Brake Question :)

Now then, I'm looking for bad-ass Graphic Designers! Think you have what it takes to lend a hand to the Fantastic Liam Adventure? Email me, pronto!

one long one

On the subject of head phones I must stand up in defence of the long wire design.

I use the sony earbud headphones wrap the wire over my ears and aroung the back of the neck.when in the helmet and not over the ears when not in helmet.

You'll find that the wire never snags as when you lean forward with your head the wire is still close to your body.

They also split so when you want a very short lead youv'e got one or likewise in reverse.

I use mine in my 750 phone so im still connected but have the fm radio and the mp3 player. Magic. ("Not Magic FM"):laughing

I got the phones via ebay in the far east for a score thats twenty quid oh sorry thats £20. There normally the ones supplied with the later 800 phone.

Sony have done them for ages on their audio line and although I used to sell them for £35 they were the best line we had in volume. Not to mention the best audio but that is probably because they exclude so much outside sound.:confused

Did you get to speak to Jimmy T at the WSBK? Bob has been telling me your on motogpod this week so i'll listen out. Keep your pecker up. John.;)

Oh boy, what have we here?

It's been a busy week as usual, and Saturday was, or should have been, strictly downtime for me. Instead, my household was busy preparing one thing and another. . . . because it's Fiesta Time, baby!

hey, pass something over :laughing

It might look like a burnt Custard Pie, but the Empanada cooked up by my roomate, Patricia, was awesome. I cannot stress this enough: If you are consuming large varieties of bebidas (drinks) you should have good fuel in the tank. Do not mix Rum, Whiskey, Wine, Beers, and Sake. Or, if you must, try to space your partying out to around twelve hours or so. Ahhh, the Spanish really know how to party. I mentioned months ago that Sunday is a waste of a day, and this is because it's simply the "slower time" of Saturday.

I thought this photo was funny because I caught everyone with their mouths open. In the background is Jines, the hospitality director for Repsol. He's responsible for everything relating to feeding and entertaining everyone at the racetrack, from the big details, like the semi-truck, to the smallest details. I'm not sure if I spelled his name right, but for an older guy he partied pretty hard and was still up drinking coffee at my apt. this morning at 7:30AM! Around 2-ish, we left the house to find a nice club to get our collective groove on. The Sutton! It's in the high area of Barcelona, and the music was spot on. Lots of fun people and a great atmosphere - I recommend it if you make it here.

At the club I bumped into Juan Martinez, chief mechanic for Sete Gibernau. I always take the time to say hello when I'm at the track and he's always very gracious. Juan and I discussed the GP06 Ducati, and it's amazing what they're able to do with the bike. Juan's confidence is high, and he has one of the more "fun" attitudes in the paddock. That is, he knows when it's time to concentrate, and when it's time to cut loose! I enjoy his perspectives on racing (sometimes they're downright wacky!), and who knows, maybe I'll end up working with him someday.

Here's a shot with our extended family in BCN, the 250cc Aoyama brothers, Hiro and Shuhei. They were exhausted from the training regime which continues through the weekends! I'm not sure, but if I had to point any fingers I'd say it was the sake that did me in! Love the stuff. At least I represented well -- I may not be able to take these guys on the track, but I dance better!

I just bought a new (unused) racebike from this girl's dad today.

Hey Karl, nice catch! I'm going to let the astute barfers out there figure out what the connection is :thumbup

Hi Oliver, Xtasie99, Rcrboy, and all. I think everyone has the right idea, but the bottom line for this rear brake set-up is . . . . .
Wheelie Prevention. So, technically, if you thought it was for traction control, or a dirt-tracker preference, you're partially correct! The little rubber band used to keep the lever up helps prevent inadvertent brake dragging - it's a cheap failsafe. The new 06 Honda is presumably smaller and more compact, to help Dani Pedrosa, and one of the results is a tendency to Wheelie. A lot. Nicky is using the rear brake to help keep the front end down and this by-passes a lot of computer programming with the traction control system. He is the traction control system. The swingarm on the bike is also unique, as I haven't seen any other Honda riders using it at this point.
