Midlife crisis style...new car time

Yep! Mine has a bench seat with belt for cozy time while driving!

lol, I remember a guy in college getting an "embracing while driving" ticket on one of those lonely, straight drives on WA-26 heading east. :laughing

That fucking raised center console bullshit has been the death of hiway romance...

Perhaps somewhere in this there is an explanation about NASCAR and the proclivities of the drivers?

You're out of your mind if you buy a 4.6L mustang at this point.
I'd take a stock non-S model mini cooper over a 4.6 Mustang

Get a Vette or a 74 eldorado convertible.

Unless it was a '73 Eldorado Indy Pace car (really) you could could combine the efficient size of a mini car, German engineering/body, and the Eldorado with the 500ci

Mid-life crisis cars should be classics or brand new fancy shit... No Mini Coopers, no Scion/Subaru step children, no V6 Mustangs.

With a budget of $25k, I'd be looking at restored classic muscle cars all day long.

1969 Chevelle w/ an LT1 - $17.9k

1966 Mustang coupe - $15k

Stretch the budget and you could be the dopest Viagra popper on your block: 1965 Shelby Cobra replica - $35k

Compiling that list took me 5 minutes on CL. If you actually took the time to check other resources and were picky about what you're looking for the right car could be found. EVERYONE is trying to sell stuff these days, so I'm sure prices can be negotiated.

EDIT: ^^^^^ bitchin' Carmen Ghia!!! A buddy from college had a Carmen Ghia with a SBC in it. Cool car!

only $255 over budget, brand new. RWD, 200 HP .. oh yeah :thumbup

I had the Scion Tc which is basically the FWD version with less power. It was super zippy and fast- stick shift, of course.

Not really :)
The FR-S/BRZ/FT-86 is a completely new design, and a great drive to boot.

Glorified Toyota. meh.

You say that like Toyotas are a bad thing. Did you ever get the celica turbo here in the US?

It's not a mid-life crisis car, so I'm not sure why it's in the conversation

I respect most asian car manufacturers. I loath Toyota. Just like I loath GM and Chrysler for the most part.

It's still a better car than most other sports cars being buit today.

Toyota is a great manufacturer, although I find most of their products overpriced

The point is a poor choice. Hence my offer to him to sell him a beautiful truck that gets 8mpg.

Highway.

Finally, someone who GETS it!

  • Scion? Cool car for a 25 year old college graduate who just started their career.
  • Mustang V6? Cool car for a spoiled girl on her 16th birthday.
  • Mini? Not cool at all, IMO (unless its an original Mini)

You've made it! Celebrate that fact. Save your Toyota Corolla for the weekday commute. Smash your garage queen, 8mph, classic car on the weekends. Pose with it at Starbucks. Take your old lady to a drive-in movie and bone out like you're 16 again! The mid-life crisis car is about the dream, not sensibility. If you're looking for sensibility, you're not in a mid-life crisis.

Agree with all of it except for the Mini not being cool. To me new American cars are what's 'uncool'
