Psst...baiting/calling out someone that's currently on a break has been grounds for suspensions in the past. :shhh

Bad form yourself, dude. The guy can't defend himself here.

You're right. I can edit my post but not the quotes. I just was upset to hear that happened, and it upset me to think he was that mad about a thread...

I will happily pull it down.

Alright you dirty Mods.

How is Daffy Duck not relevant to the dialouge.

Bring back Daffy or I will file a complaint with internal affairs.

Not picking on you WW, but to all...

Stop postwhoring.

Is was fun, it caught the attention of a larger group of admins/mods and the thread was pruned.

If you want to talk about patches or stuff like that have at it.

Regarding the Pig and Whistle. Koi has asked me to post the following on his behalf:

"just post up that it wasn't intentional and that I apologize..."

Psst...posting stuff for someone that's currently on a break has been grounds for suspensions in the past. :shhh

Damn, some of my best stuff was in there.

Here's something interesting.
The SF Pig & Whistle meet on Wednesday last.
Koi showed up.
There were probably at least 20 regulars there.
He talked to maybe 2 people and then snuck into the back and was not heard from again.
I was not one the two that talked to him, but I felt that his behavior was a bit anti-social.
I sure would have liked to put a face to the fish.

And with that, I am done with this thread.

:teeth

and yet you didn't approach him?
My first SF meet was excruciating. Luckily Farah introduced herself then attempted to introduce me around but I was for sure an outsider.
Maybe when new people show up it would be nice to approach them introduce yourself ? :dunno

Back to the subject of the patch:

Enough negative opinions were posted that it may have been best handled as a "do the right thing" thing. Although Budman had given permission to use the letters F R A B obviously it stirred up so much animosity towards a relatively new group of members pretty sure Miss Manners would have advised the Gentle Misits to approach their patching a in a diplomatic fashion and be respectful to their more seasoned BARF peers. To announce that the patches were ordered so tough shit doesn't do a whole lot to improve relations.

This whole OG Barf thing is pretty exhausting. What is the cutoff? is it a tenure thing or simply because we were before you thing? Never quite understood it but it's funny to watch newish members infiltrate oldish members. Not unlike introducing adult cats for the first time.

:laughing It's just that motorcycling isn't for the faint hearted. There is a shit-ton of attitude, comraderie, and fun involved. It isn't for everyone. There is a level of "OG" to it, we've ridden together, seen friends and good people die and get hurt.. I don't don't think it's a time thing, it's more of an experience thing. And yeah, I'm not a fan of the whole BARF + KOI patch. You wanna create a group, go ahead, if you want an endorsement from a group, you ASK FOR IT, not dictate it or ask one guy. I know Bud was ok with it but frankly, BARF is bigger than Bud too, bigger than any one of us.

I didn't know he was there.

I found out after the fact.

I did meet 3 other NEW people and it was awesome.
It goes like this:

They say, "Are you guys on barf?"
"Yeah, I'm David, who are you?"
They tell me their name.
"Cool, what's your name on barf?"
And then I normally say...
"Hey everybody, this is revnort/Dan, everyone say hello."

If we don't know who they are, how can we introduce ourselves?
If they show up and then go hide in the back, how will we ever know they were there.
Everyone at the Pig & Whistle is so welcoming.
All you have to do is say HI.

I'm sorry that your introduction to the SF Meet didn't happen like the above situation.

You pretty much nailed it. Well said! :applause

That's pretty much how every Meet I've ever gone to- even when I was one of the n00bs- went. I smiled, said hi, hovered around the fringes not knowing anyone, and MADE myself go talk to people. This may come as a complete shock, but it's really hard for me to walk up to strangers and just strike up a conversation... and going to Meets when I didn't know anyone was hard... but when I smiled, people smiled back... when I talked to them, they talked back... and lo and behold, I was made to feel welcome, because I was willing to put myself out there. I didn't expect to be treated like one of the regulars, because I wasn't... at first. But I made the effort, and as a result, made some amazing friendships.

I feel the need to post on this.

I am the one who brought Koi into the city. Lets get this clear...I/we did not work all day to fight my way over bridge that was #ucked from 2 collisions, get to Sonoma, meet up with Koi who drove in from Napa then turn around and come back over bridge to city to be anti-social. For #ucks sake.

I had friends waiting for me at pig&whistle. We got there after 8:30. It was effing cold. We pressed flesh with 4/ 5 people introd ouselves and went inside. My friends were waiting by the bar on the lounge setup ie: in the front room not the back. It was packed. Long wait to get a pint. My friends ate and Koi and I played the trivia. He named the team Misfits. Did anyone hear the name called out? We were in the middle of the points. We stayed till a winner was called. He and I were both at the bar a couple times. Went walking around. Stood in line talking to people waiting to use the bathroom. Inside I introd myself as being part of the barf group to several people.

Did not realize until we were leaving that there was a bigger table of barfers. And we said bye to them. Outside we did same thing and left. I wanted to find Machete but didnt. I am new to barf but not to riding and definitely not new on this plane of existence.

Oh yeah...This is my first post on this and since Koi is banned and can't post, where did the idea of anyone bitching about the welcome or lack of one come from? I had an okay time. Wasnt expecting much..It was effing crowded and we came late.

I am off now. Having just gotten home on my bike. effing wind effing fog. Going to find some sun tomorrow.

That's great and I'm sure will be very popular.

But the whole reason Patty and I started this Sunday breakfast meet (which quickly became linked to the Misfits) was to have a place to ride to, socialize at, and then the whole rest of the day is open for fun riding in the nearby hills or wherever.

Going to an evening meet, a main attraction is drinking and then if you are on your moto there's nothing left to do afterwards but ride home in the cold and dark, probably buzzed to some degree. Not cool. How about some more weekend/daytime meets that are social and not just group rides? Until then I encourage more of you to come up towards Napa and see how much fun this can be. :thumbup

Maybe in YOUR world... I hosted the LibMo Meet for years, and none of the peeps who came on bikes were leaving buzzed... same was true of the Skips Meets we used to have... maybe you nursed a beer... but mostly, you ate and talked. The point of a Meet is to MEET people... to do the socializing that we don't get to do when we ride. And personally, I spend my daylight hours riding... would rather socialize at night. And I'm guessing you've never been to STP or 4 Corners... plenty of socializing going on there during breaks in the loops... :laughing

And BTW- the P&W is fucking awesome! Great pub grub, and awesome peeps.

Wow, from these descriptions I don't think I'd enjoy the P&W meets at all. Too damn crowded.

Nice job talking yourself out of it.

For some of us, the meet is about camaraderie and spending time with friends.
Catching up on the weekly or monthly goings-on.
For others, it's about the trivia and being part of an almost always winning team.
Sure, it's a bar and they serve alcohol, but I can think of at least 4 people who are there regularly that DON'T even drink.
We used to have meets in Fairfield at the Baja Fresh...no where near a bar.

So...I think your assertion that the main attraction is drinking is just plain wrong.

But, I've only been going to this meet for about 8 years, I may be mistaken.

Hey- so I didn't read through this whole thread. I used to organize/lead a ton of group rides in the Berryessa area (to Middletown) a few years back. It sorta morphed from TGS into the Berryessa GP group.

It's fun to have a crew... may I suggest stickers before patches. :p

Just go ride- be safe and have fun.

As you say Connie, different worlds. I did happen to pass by STP last Sunday and was astounded by how packed the parking lots for that and Alice's were. Thought about stopping but it would have been a hassle and then wouldn't know how to even begin with finding BARFers.

True that I don't get down that way very much -- not my preference to take a long ride and end up with more traffic than I started with! Sharing a meal works better for some of us - ya gotta eat anyway, no? Standing around in a parking lot is not the same thing.

Re the drinking, I was remembering your past postings like this:
It's that time again! Great peeps, great fude, even better margaritas! :teeth So come on out and have a little fun on a Friday night!

Where: El Charro Taqueria, 186 Maple Street, Livermore Corner of First Street & Maple, kittycorner from the Livermore Theater

When: 7pm to whenever

Why: Margaritas, duh!

Hope to see you there! :wave

A bit tongue-in-cheek I suppose, but to assert that nobody ever leaves buzzed?

Yep I'm sure the P&W is great. Just not my thing.

Whatever. Different folks, different strokes. I :love you anyway ... please don't take it personally!
