He's my Dad and he's been missing for 6 weeks. He lives in Half Moon Bay. I got a call yesterday that he's behind on his rent from his landlord, which is unlike him. He had last been seen by a neighbor about 6 weeks ago. I went down and looked through his place and didn't find any clues or see anything out of the ordinary.
I filed a police report for a missing person and tried going around to the local bars to see if anyone had seen him but I didn't get much help. I called hospitals in the area but they had no records of a patient with his name nor any John Does.
I had last seen him in mid August and had talked with him on the phone late August. He posts on Facebook regularly and I had last seen a post from him on Sept 25. He has eggs in his fridge that expired early October. It's like he just disappeared.
He isn't very mobile. He doesn't drive, and can't walk too far.

If you have any information or ideas please pm me, post here or contact HMBPD

What area did this happen?
I hope he is found in good health and spirits.

Half Moon Bay

I'm not in the area but I hope he turns up safe.

far from where I live but I'll follow this thread and see if/how I can help.

Hopefully he's with a friend and just forgot to mention it. I'll keep an eye out.

Wow, OP good luck finding him!

Does he have any credit cards that have been used (mailed CC statements) or withdrawals from his bank?

I can't access his bank information. Police can't do it without a warrant from a judge.

Jesus Aaron, nothing I can do other than send you some love and some well wishes that he shows up safely.

This is well and truly awful and I cannot imagine how this feels.

He went paperless on his accounts? His mail hasn't come to his home?

Or is the post office holding mail after his mailbox got full?

This must be heart wrenching. Sorry to hear. :(

+1 Aaron. :(

Prayers for Dad being well.

I am so sorry to hear this :( I can't imagine how hard this must be for you.
I have a friend who was born and raised in Half Moon Bay. She still has her entire extended family and lots of good friends there, and she visits often. She was a BARF'er many moons ago (GETMETOCA.) Can I forward this to her? HMB is a fairly small community, and someone in her large circle of people may know or have seen something.

Best of luck in finding your father safe. If there is anything I can do for you please reach out to me.

I'm so sorry, please keep us updated and if there is a facebook page we can share, let everyone know.

It's funny in the modern "connected" society how easy it is to lose track of people.

I've had to do two separate remote welfare checks sending the police to bang on the door of my parents when their phone went dark for more than a week.

Similarly, I lost a friend early last year. His brother discovered him, he'd been dead for some time (weeks). I never found out more than that, with Covid we (his friends) have never had an opportunity to get together with it.

But here are, instant, ubiquitous communications at our fingertips, yet at the same time, not hearing from someone for months is the norm.

3 days after I last talked to my Dad (about his birthday), I got a call from the neighbors that he had passed. He died in his garden. They were close, but I don't know how long he would have been in his house before they came knocking. I can easily see it being a couple of weeks.
