More Time To Get Fit - 2025

Maybe try a Graston session, Sharx...worth a shot. I'm thinking maybe blood circulation focused.

Graston......hell on earth but useful

I wonder if that is it. I had a bad car accident quite awhile ago and it really fucked up the lymphatic system in my lower right leg( that leg went through the windshield of the car I was in as it was flipping and it tore up the front of my leg so bad it was like hamburger. Thank god for blue jeans otherwise it would have been way worse). I will have to keep track of which leg it happens on more often but my most recent recollection is left leg but will keep a written log to see if the right is more problematic.

Wow Sharx, that’s crazy, I had no idea.
I don't really think about it anymore because it was a long time ago, 19 years, but when Holeshot mentioned that Graston technique and I looked it up it mentioned lymphatic system stuff and my primary doc mentioned that it probably got screwed up in that leg and the swelling in it would never go down. So much for body symmetry in my weightlifting. between that, a torn shoulder joint playing softball and labrum tear repair my shit will never be symmetrical. :ROFLMAO:

It was crazy when insurance adjuster looked at the car she asked if everyone made it out okay. Thankfully everyone was fine my injuries were the worst and I am thankful for that as everyone else I cared about in car all got minor injuries which was fine by me as I would take all their pain if I could everyday and twice on Sunday.

Your a bad ass, glad you’re here with us.

Way bad ass. AND lives in FL.

I should book a Graston session for my next trip in SF, although I also reached out to a local practitioner here in Oregon. Definitely going to schedule a massage with an emphasis on the sad chicken tenders (tendons) and getting some lymph drainage going. Tendinitis can eat paste. :x

Just went for a wee pedal. Took the push bike to the track for the weekend and it was a LIFE SAVER for trips to the restroom, rider meetings, and visiting people in the pits.

Whoops a little too far east. I live in the western swamplands of LA. Did I ever mention my travails dealing with an alligator in my pond?
Question is, does he have an air boat for those really wet days/weeks?
4x4 handles most of it and if its too bad I have the paddle boat we use in the pond. Or I could call the Cajun Navy they are always willing to lend a hand.

The totality of injuries from that crash was:
dislocated shoulder from trying to grab steering wheel from passenger side to stop it from locking the wheels to one side which caused the flip
aforementioned knee to ankle hamburger grind from windshield I swear I still have a piece of safety glass in my shin but it really doesn't bug me so haven't seriously thought about having it removed.
multiple cracked ribs
broken fibula
lots of safety glass in my right arm and some nice cuts which left some gnarly scars.

I love that little Honda for saving my loved ones from serious damage and will fight anyone who says child safety seats don't save lives in accidents along with seatbelts.

On a workout note tonight is arms and shoulders so time to go ham. I have learned my lesson with this and am now giving the grandsons some bucks to empty my grass catcher when its full. Win-win.

Also got the irons in my golf bag re-gripped with new mid size grips, B-day gift from the wife, so can't wait to schedule an exercise session at the golf course to see how they work out. but that may be a week or so as I just got the lawnmower running again as the starter relay went out and had to wait on a replacement one.

I went for a good, solid mountain bike ride with a couple of my buddies today. The cold I've been fighting all week really hammered me on the ride. Not just the climbs, but also generating any kind of sustained power on the flatter sections, too.
Still, I had a good time and was happy to be out on the bike, so I'm not complaining.

I rarely weight myself because I've always been or always felt fat. Since April I've been kicking it into gear and probably the leanest I've been in 20+ years. Currently at 167lbs at 5'6 which I can't believe while putting on muscle. Need to get my protein up, certainly not eating enough. Cardio sucks aside from the biking 20 minutes 3-4 days a week picking up kids from school. I'd like wake up and run for 30 minutes, just hard to get up at 530 in the morning and outside. Need to get to bed earlier.

Hope to drop more bodyfat and maybe get an ab or two to hopefully show, still happy with the progress though. Conflicted at times with being in a calorie deficit to lose weight but also want to squat the world haha! Tried a 20 rep squat program and that was brutal. Stopped after 4 weeks I think, didnt have the time warm up with only an hour to lift a day. Doing 20 continues reps at 50% max, week later add 5lbs, week later add another 5lbs. Do that until you surpass your max.

^ Swimming it a top tier cardio exercise too Dubbs. It's also something you can do in the evening when the days are short if you are lucky enough to have a community pool. I think swimmers have some of the best physiques and you get to rock a speedo! ;)

I'm kinda in a similar gain situation. I lost 10lbs of pretty much, all muscle mass thanks to a month long sickness thing. It was horrible. Wasn't able to work out the whole time and went from 174 to 164. Today's the first day back and I'll ease into things, but I'm actually kinda excited to build back. Fortunately, I didn't gain any fat cause I wasn't eating much anyway....which is my normal hunger level. Work outs push me to consume a moderate amount of calories/ protein.

WRT cardio, have you ever tried a non-stop weight routine of 45-60 minutes or so for a good few weeks and checked results? I think you'll find more caloric burn daily from the program over traditional cardio programs. IME.

My weight has really been a journey. 4 years ago I was 189, I’m between 5’8” and 5’9”. Started lifting weights and running and my weight slowly decreased and I hit 173. Since I started riding back in April I have oddly gotten back up to 181. My kid teases me that I lost my Santa belly. I would say that overall I slowly lost fat and have certainly gained a fair bit of muscle.

Damn right.

When I played soccer in college I looked funny because it looked like I was always skipping upper body days at the gym 🤣.
Could be worse. I was genetically gifted with T-Rex thighs and ostrich calves. Tis quite a mis match. :laughing Ohh to have tree trunk legs :love

My wife married me because of my legs. she likes that my calves were always on the larger side and not skinny like other guys. I blame bike riding. I was in the best shape of my life in high school from riding my MTB everyday to my friends house it was like 7 miles or so each way. Never had better defined thighs then that summer even that little teardrop muscle at the bottom of the thigh by the knee was on full display. I would kill for those legs now. Getting old sucks but it beats the alternative.

Peruvian Blueberries are back in season. These things are the sour patch kids of the fruit world. I've been an addict for them the last 5 years or so. About the best thing in the world when they're in season! If you like sweet/ sour and one of the best thing to put in your body; Peruvian blueberries are the deal.
