Dovi giving some respect to Stoner's abilities.

Dovi is a class act. While I'm not sure Stoner would have been so demure if the role was reversed, I do agree with Dovi's observation that Stoner could be as fast on the first lap as the rest of the field could approach on the fourth lap. Very much like Mr. Mladin. Both of those guys were able to ride cold(er) tires better in the early portions of the race.

Rossi is usually, and probably rightfully, praised for his race craft.

But NO ONE, in my humble opinion, can hold a candle to Stoner as far as brute-force speed and talent. There is no craft to him other than to go balls-out fast every time he can, no matter what kind of bike it is, and it produced results for him, barring his equipment not being up to par (Michelin circa 2006).

Stoner's actually the only guy who I dare say has ambition that outweighed his machine's talents. :laughing

That's not hard to do when you ride a Ducati. I'd say every Ducati rider's ambition outweighs their machine's talent.:p

conditions must be better today. riders are flooding the track much faster now.

Jorge faster than yesterday on lap 2.

Dovi also almost .4 faster than yesterday on lap 3

very likely. supposedly his 2013 bike was ready for yesterdays afternoon session, but it rained.

Jorge's 3rd lap... 2:00.539. how does he do it?!?!

Alien, dude. You know this stuff. I think we are seeing the birth of another alien from Mars-quez.

Mars... only other one under 2:01 so far while Rossi is just a tick over.

its a funny occurrence that someone posted that interview by Dovi saying Stoner was ridiculous for being able to post hot laps in practice right away. of course, now everyone is doing/attempting it. i love how that sort of competition tailors our heroes into the racing gods that they are.

The two things that stood out to me in the Dovi interview were that Dovi, and others, watched Stoner's lines. This is BIG in racing. And that Stoner changed the way the game is played. Another huge accolade. The kind of praise that Kenny Senior got.

Obviously, since Stoner was faster than anyone he raced against, the riders HAD to watch his lines...because they were behind him. :p

Right on. Who is faster in MotoGP than Stoner? Everyone :rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl

Bahahahaha :rofl :rofl

Marquez is going to be quick from the get go. That said - we saw a little variance in his lap times yesterday.. nowhere near as consistent as Lorenzo, for example.

Question: Was Marquez ever super consistent in Moto2? Do you all suspect he's just testing, in every sense of the word? Or would you suspect he's still coming to grips with a much larger and more forceful bike, and simply doesn't have the physical / mental stamina to do it lap after lap?

Not really anything to get excited about, what with it being the first session out for the scheduled days of testing, and the track/weather not exactly at their best. It would be more interesting to look at the final session when they can do simulations, and I'm hoping to overlay that with each rider's final testing session the last time out, see how or how much they've improved since then.

But hey, check out Mr. Metronome at it again. ;)

Any chance you post the laptime spreadsheet data somewhere public like google docs so the rest of us can play with it?
I love pivot tables. :teeth

Almost forgot. I asked budman earlier today about having a sub-forum for all things moto-racing discussions; MotoGP, WSBK, AMA, BSB, IoM TT, FIM World Endurance, Macau GP, etc., just anything and everything revolving around professional motorcycle racing series'.

He dug it, so stay tuned. :thumbup

Session two, Jorge currently way faster than Dani, Cal, Marquez and Rossi. :laughing, he may get under 2:00. O, and Cal, Mark and Rossi are all within less than .2 second of each other, total.
