this track looks so wide for some reason...

Rossi: "I really like the track - my first impression is that it is beautiful," the Italian began. "It’s very flowing with a lot of fast corners and direction changes – it’s fun on the bike! There are three hairpins that are very tight; that’s better for Formula 1 overtaking, but for us they are a bit slow. In general the track is good.

Lorenzo: "At first it was difficult to understand the lines, but I have improved by three seconds since my first lap today; that means it's a hard track to learn and a difficult track to go to the maximum on. I think it helps more than at some other places to have this extra time…three or four practices before the race will not be enough to understand it, so some of the riders who didn’t come here will have a little disadvantage."

Watching the highlight video, what is that flashing light on MM's left sleeve?

I remember discussing the curbing when the COTA track first went green. Why, oh why, does one wait till a month before the race to do something? That kind of procrastinating skill is right up my alley. I should do track inspection for MotoGP and AMA Grand National. The second, only because you just look at the wall and go, "yup, there's a wall there, alright".

ouch. rossi did about 10 laps more than everyone else and is almost 2 seconds off of marquez' pace. goes to show you the level of marquez' racing intellect and how adaptable he is.

Bradl: "The most difficult bit is definitely Turns 2, 3, 4 and 5, where you have to change direction many times and very quickly," Bradl recalled. "You have to be very precise and make sure you enter that section on the right line; if you get it wrong, the lap is gone, so that is one of the most challenging parts. The first corner is very nice too: you can brake so late and it’s going uphill, so you almost start flying over it! I’m looking forward to racing here."

I said way before hand that the esses were going to be significant. Those things are just bad-ass. It's impressive to me that the riders that are testing there are so impressed with the circuit. To me it really puts america back on the map in terms of international motorsport. It's going to be incredible to see a full grid go at it in anger.

And Yamaha is supposed to decide by noon whether they're going to stay for Day 3, or pack up after today. Will depend on gap from the Hondas.
