New beer you had - Tell us about it.

I lived near Drakes Barrel House in San Leandro almost my whole life and about a month ago decided to actually check it out and try some of their beer. I'm in love with their denogginizer.

The draconic is also one of my favorites.

I bought a 12 of Bohemia Cerveza de Trigo or wheat beer. It is some perfume-y shit. Don't recommend.
Tastes a lot like Hoegaarden. Where prostitutes grow their vegetables.

Firestone Walker Parabola 2013
Russian Imperial Stout
13% ABV

3500 cases of 12 produced.

aged in bourbon oak barrels for a year....

it was most excellent.

Will have to check that one out.

How's the brewing coming?

I tried these three recently. ALL PORTERS:

Texas Exile by Brash Brewing Company - worst of today .. but it has some nice flavour, super strong coffee smell and.. 10%+ yo.

Black Robusto Porter by Drake's Brewing Company - amazing discovery for today, it may be.. TOO smooth tho :)) and probably resembles greener's favourite beer: Black BEWT by Descutes.

Fluxus (2013) by Allagash Brewing Company - well.. is it a surprise that this company has made a good one?

Whadja think?
It was really good. I am not a huge fan of stouts though.

I would order it again though.

I tasted the fluxus yesterday but didnt get a glass. It was pretty good. Tasted like a chocolate covered orange.

I just had a Yuengling last night in Florida. I haven't had one for a while. Man, that stuff's pretty amazing. No discernible flavor WHATSOEVER. How do they get beer to taste like water? And I thought Carling Black Label was amazing in that regard!

I like sour ales, but the really good ones are always so limited and expensive, I never remember the names.

Beer Revolution (aka my Holy Temple) in Oakland is also pouring Racer 15 if you're looking for it.

I just had a bottle of EJ Phair's strong amber, Shorty's Revenge. Good stuff.

I like beer Rev, but it's always so crowded it's not worth going IMO.

Tasted it once, have been scouring the earth to find it ever since. I would speedbag your grandaddie's bawls to have another pint of this.

I would die happy to beat off on the shadow of a man drinking a pint of this delicious nectar of all that is holy.

Haven't even heard of this... must find and try...

Earlier this summer, I stumbled across Alaskan Amber... surprisingly good! Especially on really hot days!

drake's aroma coma is pretty damned good, if you like the IPAs. limited release starting, I think, last year.

MUCH better. After several horrible to tolerable batches I made a Citra IPA that was pretty freaking good....so good I'd actually buy it.

Now I have a RIS at about 65% attenuation waiting to finish up on the yeast cake to be batch aged with some America Oak cubes soaked in port (for 120 days)...I'll give that one at least 9 months before it's ready.

and I have another IPA that should be very good - same base as the Citra IPA, but swapped out some Citra for Simcoe - that will be dryhopped shortly...

I'm gonna name it the 'KamaSimtra' ;)

Also have a Fresh Hopped American Pale session beer that's OK - used my first year hops...and at only 5.25% you can have a few without ruining the whole day :)

This brewing thing is FUN as hell - any and all tips from you pros are more than welcome. :thumbup

's funny. We had dinner at Bear Republic on Friday night and they didn't have a 15 on the menu. I would have been happy with X, which I really like. But none of that either. So I tried their "Cafe Racer." I didn't love it but it was good.

As for Scrimshaw, I worked my bro-in-laws kegerator all weekend on that between doing a bunch of firewood. Sure is good when yer all hot-n-sweaty and it's cold in a pre-chilled pint glass.

not my favorite stout, but def a good one. surprisingly hoppy for a stout, hence the 'American' label. maybe 'San Diego' Stout would have been a better description. other St Archer beers have been lack-luster, but this one is def :thumbup

Trader Joe's has Boatswain 1) Heavy Lift Vessel, and 2) Double IPA and they are both an excellent bargain.

Of course, they've also got Lagunita's Lucky 13 now (aways :thumbup :thumbup yum ), so that sorta complicates matters
