Oakland to Toronto ride - H3

....a better photo of the basins and intermittent mountains....

once in Utah, the roads opened up enroute to Delta, Utah. here's C-fuck posing for the camera. rain in the distance...we'll bypass it....

here's Slow, riding.

It's 142 miles from Eureka, Nv. to Delta, Utah. We'll keep our fingers crossed, as we're busting down the road at about 90mph, clear open roads...not good on gas mileage on a fully loaded harley, and honda....

1972451-dsc00372.jpg

...and then it happened. there's always one in our group....actually, there's always one: that drops their bike;
one: that runs out of gas;
and one that always gets lost.
we covered them all.....
slow runs out of gas, less than 1/10th of a mile from Hinckley, Utah, and gas stop. so like a good friend, I have to double back, and take photos of him....:laughing :laughing :laughing :laughing sucker!

push that bitch. I did have my hazards on, for safety's sake.

...further down the road, we're trying to get to I-fucking-15, and book it north, before the dusk, and the deer come out on the back roads. the sun did an amazing job on the fields as we were riding by. looked like gold, with intermittent lush green vegetation. made me think of emeralds inlayed (sp?) in gold....saw a few deer feeding in the sorgum ( i think that's what it was) fields. ........

1972464-dsc00382.jpg

...made it to Salt Lake Shitty, and my buddy's condo. Slow's chopstix repair job is holding "up" as you can see from the photo. best duct tape job I've seen in a while.......we drank some beer, a few shots of tequila, caught up on old stories with my buddy, who is trying to build a rock climbing wall in his vaulted ceiling living room....very fucking cool...i've always wanted something like that.......next day would be Yellowstone N.P. ......

Monday: August 22nd, 2005.

I'm up early, packed up and ready to go...bike ready......waiting for the rest....

1972482-dsc00388.jpg

...waiting for c-fuck, who has that look on his face, because not only is he late....again to pack up, he's stepped in dog shit a few minutes ago, and then dropped his helmet off the bike...let me rephrase that....he dropped his 2 week old helmet, and put two scrapes on it....:laughing :laughing :laughing :laughing , he should be happy he did that, without his head in it....dork!

....leaving SLC, we hit our first real rain, and it's coming down in buckets...Slow had decided to ride with us a bit further, to Yellowstone, for another campout...but has decided to turn around and head for Santa Barbara and warm, dry, sunny weather....bastard. so we say good bye, and then there was two. just me and c-fuck, taking I15 north to city of Ogden, then the 12th street exit, and "heading for the hills" east, and onto hwy. 39 and the borders of Wyoming......

1972496-dsc00390.jpg

....east thru the mtn. passes, going around slow ass Utah drivers...apparently everyone out here drives the speed limit...what a foreign concept....don't they get it...anyway....we come to this spot, just showing the lighting storm we were heading into. i remained a bit apprehensive, as I am apparently on one gigantic steel iron rod, rolling down the road.....

1972505-dsc00392.jpg

...rolled thru this, lightining in the background....God I love this shit! alive, no worries, no drama....no work....just me on the bike, thru whatever comes out.....

p.s. I've lost C-fuck.. he went ahead to ride a bit faster, and stopped to take a photo, but didn't park his bike by the road, so i didn't see him. i know this, only from talking to him later. rode ahead, got to the bottom of the mountain, gassed up, and asked about him. no one has seen him. he's a big boy, with a larger gas tank, so maybe he cruised by.......riding solo now. not bad, i like this, ride my own way, no one to worry about...blah, blah, blah.....

...welcome to Wyoming...actually the last photo and this one are taken across the road from each other. didn't stop at the sign coming into Utah, initially...touristy, I know, but I like it. If I ever have kids, they'll look at this and learn some sign language, if nothing else......on on

1972525-dsc00397.jpg

.....north on hwy. 89 in and out of Wyoming and into Idaho, stopped for this photo in Idaho, and out of it in less than 13 miles....north to the Grand Teton N.P.

and then Yellowstone....putting on rain gear, as it's about to pour....

1972535-dsc00400.jpg

...have to go to the shop and get some things.

lost things list:
lost my rain pants on the road, came out of a loose fitting bungee. sucks!
lost rain cover, right saddle bag.

repairs: rear taillight totally loose, and had to duct tape it to my luggage rack...good as new. lost some random screws and loosened some bolts.....just tighten and go.

lost my left mirror...fuck me. have a spare....:laughing just for that purpose. a little TLC today, and then off tomorrow. will come back later and post more photos....

cheers.....

Rick , I'm jealous of your adventures. Someday bro, someday...

Keep the shiny side up and stay safe and dry.

thanks JMack.

here's a few more...we're off to run some trail, and drink stupid amts. of beer....

heading north on the 89 and into Grand Teton N.P.

......pulled over on the side of the road, and shot some cool photos of this river, snaking down....further up the road, there were similiar water falls, and it finally tabled out at a clear lake, that mirrored the mtns. in the distance...very cool....
