Oakland to Toronto ride - H3

....found my campsite that night, it was pouring buckets and I was not happy with it, of course. went to the lodge and ate at the cafeteria,,,,then went back to the campsite, and set up my tent in the rain. group of trees where it was dry at my campsite, and that was cool. went down to the docks and bought a small flashlight, and wrote some notes.....back to the tent, and I was going to crash out in my tent......then I heard C fuck's bike..... roll up, it's 9:41pm. he is 2 1/2 hours later than myself, found the campsite, rode in some more rain, but made it.

we hung out for a few more hours, smoked some cigars, drank some rum....
today was a 530 mi. day.
ready the next morning to Sturgis.....

....so.....Tuesday morning, 8/23/05...
I'm up at 0700, packed and ready, tent is down...and look over and C Fuck is peaking his head out of his tent...saying, huh...you're ready already? shit!

my tent is packed up....and there was some bear shit in our campsite, about 5 ft. from my tent.....wasn't there the night before.....sonovabitch!

,,,,out of Yellowstone, there was a bunch of cool little lakes, if we had more time, I would not mind stopping here, and eating some breakfast, the sun peaking over the forest and shining down, warming things up....calm, quiet, and serene....zen like almost.....

....some of the geysers strewn about the park...just steaming....apparently this whole region of wyoming is sitting under a super volcano. I think that is how they classify it as..and say that someday, don't know when, it will erupt taking with it, about one quarter of wyoming and surrounding areas....makes the skin crawl if you think about it. this is only what I heard, while talking to a seismologist friend of mine....

...on the east entrance of Yellowstone, there is construction, roads closed 8pm to 8am. 20 min. delays during the day. single track, dirt, mud, and loose dirt...took it slow what with all the traffick......

...rode out of yellowstone....i like roads that follow rivers and creeks, they seem to have a lot of curves and twists in the road.... c fuck in the lead.....the weather is crisp and cool. feels good, and will do in place of my foofoo coffee, that I have not had in days now.....not a happy man...without the right combination of caffeine...oh, well.....this shit is cool....

...east on hwy 16 I think to Cody, Wy. and this is a shot of Cody state park....wide open spaces in Wyoming...I like the look of it, and this lake/reservoir...in the middle of it. nice roads, and traffick isn't too bad.....

1973667-dsc00438.jpg

....east of Cody, Wy. the scenery changed a bit, as we headed south on Hwy. 14 I think...towards Hwy. 31, which was a small 2 lane road, with hardly any traffick on it....but you can see the valleys in the distance...ended up with a 7 mile detour...or wrong way, i might say...not bad...still scenic......then east towards Buffalo, Wy.

...more later, if I can get on computer...if not, from Pittsburgh....one last one.....saw this guy lumbering along on the back roads, packed to the nines, he must have bottomed out on every bump, had the warm everything.....hey, whatever makes you comfortable I say....

wednesdsay: 8/24/05: I'm ready to go, and I'm waiting......again.....finally cfck is ready and has to fix his taillight...we don't get on the interstate until 0830, late by my view.......boring ass central U.S.A. not many photos. stopped at Wall Drug, since everyone stops there, just got a photo, and continued.........
