Oracle USA

FYI, no further racing today. Weather tomorrow looks good. America!

Arg. So go tomorrow, and (hopefully) not see the final race, or gamble to just go on Wednesday?

Oracle is doping. Hydraulic fluid tests NOW!! :laughing

The change happened when they yanked the SF native out of the tacticians seat and put in a Brit.

They also made some unspecified tweaks to the boat.

Winning the starts is killing the Kiwis.

Did they mention they also did the "we not gonna do the fake sandbaggin anymore and will actually race instead of letting the Kiwis in the lead" tweak?

p.s. SFGate banner:
"Cup blossoms into an amazing affair"

So what is this:two boats.. one cup ?!?!?!?

True that :thumbup

Although the Kiwi's have won the 2 of the last 3 starts before blowing it.

This will be the comeback of all comebacks if TOUSA pull it of.

I'm not one to follow sports but after seeing Mr Furiosos facebarf posts last week, I decided to watch the action today from Pier 29.

Well, it was pretty fucking rad! Now I'm bummed I can't go tomorrow :(
I'm really glad I took the opportunity while I had the chance.

What was the reason for Team Oracle loosing two points?

So, is Oracle toast? I think Oracle's toast. All of Larry's money and all of Larry's men could not win The America's Cup again...

Good sailing, Kiwi's - after you bring the cup back Down Under, see if you can go back to monohulls, can you? True, there's something fascinating about sailboats doing 50 MPH, but there's too much drama...

to be honest, I specifically did not watch or pay attention because I expected the Ellison's Wallet to win everything all the time.
If ever stops winning I might start watching again. :thumbup

Because Larry Ellison's wallet is that much bigger than Emirates Airlines? :laughing

If they stop winning there will be nothing more to watch. :laughing

Their sponsorship money doesnt even come close....... You do know the Kiwi govt kicked in something like $25-30 million. Wait, I know you know that. Now go back to back to being a Larry hairy ball sucker :twofinger

Now if you want to watch a real regatta with real sailers and deep deep field, the Big Boat Series.

But back on topic. If Larry's team does in fact tie this series, perhaps we do a small BARF sailing meet at my sailboat to watch the final race. My berth is at the end of Yacht Rd, the dock imediately next to the Golden Gate Yacht Club. Defender club, ground zero. We can throw beer cans at their windows! :laughing

The point being that the money's there. Whether they choose to spend it is another thing. And I'm sorry to break the bad news to you that there's no such thing as the Easter Bunny, but predominantly in racing, the winners spend more money than the losers. Not all the time everywhere, but predominantly.

I guess I just don't understand the Larry hate. None of you know him personally. And he's done more for this series than ever before. This America's Cup series is going down in the record book.

Hate him all you want, it's not like I really like the guy, either. But I'm willing to give credit where credit is due.

I have to dissagree. Larry and the Americas cup has become exactly whats wrong with sailboat racing, with the exception of the spectacle of the foiling 72's (they are awe inspiring) and the venue.

The AC series solidifies for many the stereotype of a sport that is dominated by uber rich cunts. Sailing at its roots is anything but that. One design racing with owner/skipper rules. Dingy racing. Windsurfing and Kitesailing.

No, I have never met Larry. But his and the AC groups approach to the city was and is nothing short of a robber baron mentality. As a San Francisco Tax Payer, I am offended. I've already shared my many many interactions with the AC staff and Yachtclub nut hangers in the marina with you personally. 3/4 of these nut hangers dont even own a boat.... and couldnt sail a model in their bathtub. And dont get me started on folks trying to call it Americas team. Oh yeh, Spithill is married to american woman.... :laughing Its team Larry and nothing more.

So I will be chearing on the Kiwis in hopes that the series ends sooner and the Big Boat Series can start. Hopefully they rethink the boat design and rules when it goes down to Auckland to be more inclusive and a larger field.

I respect your opinion. It's wrong, but I respect it. :laughing :teeth j/k

Back to Cow on 10/26-27?

Reading the live blog now... looks like another win for TOUSA. If they tie it after the second race, I'm going down tomorrow for the finale
