Oracle USA

Reading the live blog now... looks like another win for TOUSA. If they tie it after the second race, I'm going down tomorrow for the finale

yeah.. O is leading still.. but they really flew off at the start.. BC the umpires did a 2-boat penalty to the NZL boat. The boats actually touched.

ANNNNNDD O won this race 1 today. Shiz, they did a nice flyover by the public at the end . NZL didn't do it after that.

Got to give the Kiwi capain credit when interviewed after race one.

Not a single excuse, not a single complaint about the penalty.

Our NFL coaches could learn a thing or two from that kind of demeanor.

I'd love to get a transcript of the crews' conversations during that incident.

I'm watching it live out my window and have the TV on. A number of good replays of the start on TV. Love Ainslie's chatter to the Kiwi's..... come on... you have to tack..... and throwing his arms up selling it. It was a cut and dry foul... no question. Barker too early and too high opening the door for Spithill to hook em. Classic match racing. Still had to chuckle at at Ainslie selling the obvious. :laughing

U coming up tomorrow if O wins?

No, we have quite a crowd watching it at work now.

Keep in mind, who wins will possibly change how teams are composed in future.

Team USA has exactly one American on its boat the rest are from New Zealand, France, Australia, Netherlands and England.

If the Kiwis win, they will change the rules so that the USA team would have to be all Americans, the Kiwi team all Kiwis etc. If Team USA wins they'll want all mercenaries for the next race. :laughing

I'll be down on the boat tomorrow by noon. Watching from the jetty. If anyone would like to join, PM me by tonight and I'll shoot you my cell and directions. I'm still speechless.

So who's going tomorrow and where are you watching from? Do you guys want to get a group together?

Planning on heading up around 11. Might meet up with coworkers, otherwise will be looking for peeps to hang with...

Mini-meet idea still on?

PM me if you want meet up to watch the race and I'll send you my cell. Will be watching on the jetty in front of my boat next to the Golden Gate Yacht Club. You can leave your helmets/jackets on the boat. You will need to park on Marina Blvd or side street and walk in as the Marina is closed off otherwise during the event. BYOB. I'll be down there by noon.

Boat location is the red X next to the yacht club. The gate is directly next to the club, I'm the first boat down the gangway. Picture of boat.

damn this sounds awesome (the mini meet offer ).
Due to the efforts of GAJ and Giorgio to get us out there, this time I made the Marina and made it to watch from the crowds inside the screen. I still cant believe you know who won the second race too, esp since the NZ was in the lead at first!! (and 'local' people were quite worried, haha!)

It should be easy to spot OaklandF4i.

Coming from a guy who's nickname is fancy pants... puts white hoses on his dirtbike and a pink tank cap.... I'm not in the least bit intimidated. Just let me know if you need me to ride your bike up any hills in the near future. :rofl

Just spent the day watching the end of the comeback of all comebacks :thumbup

Wow. I'm not a Larry fan but you have to give credit where its due and the Oracle guys have worked their nuts off to pull the series even.

As a lifelong windsurfer and sailor, it was amazing to watch 72ft cats essentially using windsurfer racing tactics. Oracle have nailed upwind sailing on foils and blew away from Emirates NZ on that last race. Foiling upwind at 30kts is an amazing spectacle.

I really hope they stay with foiling craft for the next AC. :thumbup Its a thrill to see the SF Bay's amazing wind resource being used effectively. I love sailing big boats but non-planing mono-hulls just don't do our wind justice.

I'll be down there again tomorrow - this is sailing history being made :thumbup
