Pacific Rim - Movie

Well, they at least didn't name it after the show just for Marquee value. That's what I mean. It could heavily reference it but they're not using the name as a crutch like say...Transformers. Or The Karate Kid. Battleship.

Or this clusterphuk... :facepalm

Anybody who does not go see this movie is doing something wrong in their life.

I was expecting this to be a turd of a movie, but I am definitely glad that I'm wrong.
This was a pretty good movie.
It had everything that I thought that shoulda been in there.
Excellent nod to anime of the old days when giant robots killed monsters with swords!
Robotech the live action movie better be just as good if not better.
Lookin' forward to possible Gundam, Evangelion and maybe even some Voltron movies!

I think what made this movie so great is that, even if it's clearly derived from other inspirations, it's an original story. Much as I love Robotech, I just don't think it needs to get remade.

Before coming in to see the movie, I kept my expectations low. Boy was I in for a surprise. Despite some minor flaws here and there, it clearly tugged at my childhood when I used to watch old mech animes like Voltes V, Daimos, Voltron, Gundam and etc.

The "final" weapon? Oh maaan, that made me chuckle like crazy.

Watched it on Century's XD 3D bigass screen. Fight scenes are awesome and fully what I expected to see. That is about it but makes it worth watching. I thought the acting was horrendous, and could make do with a little better story line. Maybe made the movie longer to get it into epic movie territory. Jax Teller's acting was especially terrible. Dude sounds like he was back in SOA, which is cool, but just not fit for this movie. For a big budget film they could have spent some more money to hire some A List actors instead of the B squad.

the acting was straight up awful. the voice over was pretty bad as well.

I still enjoyed it base don the monsters being done well and the CGI being done well and not dstractingly fake like a lot of Hollywood nowadays

Took Alison to see the movie today, not a bad flick at all. Alison turns to me and goes, Dad will your big gun take those things down? :laughing

The things our kids say.

What was your reply?

SPOILER ALERT: (If you're planning to see the movie, stop reading now.)

During the flashback with the little Japanese girl, did anyone else tear up? The look of fear and sadness on that little girl's face really got me.

Anytime a japanese girl cries, or is extremely happy, there's a robot in some form or another. :twofinger
