i can't believe pacific rim barely breaks even but transformers makes a billion dollars.

i read the pacific rim sequel is up in the air because it didn't make enough which is sad.

this was better than transformers in every way.

8.5/10 - it's got everything i'm looking for in a summer blockbuster.

Well that's because of the shitty acting and the way the story line flowed. I loved the fight scenes of course but....... this movie needed some A List actors, proven screenwriter, and Michael Fucking Bay!!!

hell no.

big actors, proven screen writers (read: predictable writing), michael bay are all negatives imo.

this is exactly what you do when all you care about is making money and want to herd the maximum number of sheeple into theaters.

i'm worn out on the conventional hollywood formula (A list actors, formulaic writing, michael bay's particular brand of MTV hyper-editing).

i'm more interested in someone taking risks with some originality which del toro does better than anyone else.

pacific rim didn't make huge money, that's because he didn't using hollywood's well known, and overly used blockbuster formula which is also exactly why it's a better move than transformer.

^^^Plus, it wasn't just a giant multiple product commercial. There was no sponsorship from a car manufacturer to feature one of their new ones in the movie. There were no blatantly obvious scenes where the actors are drinking a fuckin Coke. I really hate it when movies do that.

lets not get crazy here :laughing

movie was a fine movie, but hardly original. it was just a live action anime. it was good, not great. it had LOTS of flaws, one of them being terribly predictable writing. another being poor acting. I agree that A ist actors does not mean good acting, but it was obvious that the acting shots were very few takes and what got the brunt of the focus was the CGI. bad acting and bad writing, with lots and lots of plot holes.

it was a fun movie tho yes, and much better than any transformers, which are so bad its insane

said this in another thread... but I'll repeat it here...
Someone write up a Voltron script and give it to del Toro... Robeasts and Voltron blazing sword ftw...

would see.

he he could do for voltron what he did for hellboy two (cool movie) im in

You're comparing a pretty good movie to total garbage.

It's like saying: this hamburger is pretty good compared to shit in a bun, but it's no top sirloin.

It's a good movie. I've seen better. But when it comes to giant Kaiju/mech genre sci-fi, I don't think it's wrong to give it straight up praise.

There is actually a Voltron movie currently in development. GDT is not involved. Look for Michael Bay to direct :|

BTW, be sure to sit through the ending credits. There was a bit of a lol there!
