Back in business! Center stand and single-side swingarm are awesome for tire changes. Had these (Shinko 705) on the back of my 690SM before. They're cheap, but work as good as any for my type of riding - frolicking on backroads. I haven't tried them in the front, though.

Ran into newbee (first time meeting him) at Advanced Cycle Service and we chatted a bit. I felt like Sponge Bob with stars in my eyes. Always been in awe with how much and how fast he rides on Mt Ham - Mines. :laughing

I would like to know how it works on a big powerful bike. I have a set of those on my XR650L and they're great on the street. I have full confidence in their cornering ability and I especially liked the price. I'm wondering how they would hold up on my much more powerful KTM.

I put 120+ miles on the Shinko 705 rear on my GS today. It felt great, no problem at all. I don't carry passenger or luggage on my GS.

Mileage of the Shinko on the GS is TBD. I'm guessing ~ 6k mi, based on what it did on the 690SM, which seems hard on rear tires.

690SM rear tire life:
- Distanzia (SM compound): 2,650 mi
- Shinko 705: 4,600 mi
- Avon Trailrider: ~ 3,300 mi

R1150GS rear tire life:
- Tourance: 7,620 mi

R1200GS rear tire life:
- Tourance: ~ 5,800 mi

Took a ride up to Mt Diablo. Windy but nice views, still so green.

I should look into getting a small windshield like that. Not much fun on the highway sitting up straight in 80mph wind.

It definitely helps. Although, I'm looking at getting the "touring" screen or one of those MRA Xcreens for some added wind deflection.
