Quimby Road is pretty beat up now with lots of tar snakes, not very confidence inspiring

90°F felt so much cooler.

I figure if you guys keep posting Mt. Hamilton/Mines/The Junction/San Antonio Valley Road multiple times every week, I can keep posting from the dirt roads above Boise. :)

This was some other road up there where I couldn't quite make it up the hill through the eroded rut. Lots of "fun" getting that big bike turned around by myself there. This was after I had backed it up 30 or 40 feet to a wider spot.

You could if it wasn't a steep uphill. If this were as flat as it apparently looks in the photo it wouldn't have been the slightest issue. It was steep enough that the rear wheel was just as likely to spin as start the bike moving forward in a controlled manner. And that stuff in the shadows is narrow, deep, and full of big rocks. Both sides were at an angle and with enough loose dirt that it was difficult to keep from sliding back into the rut, which was why I gave up and turned it around here rather than make multiple tries to get through there. It might be quite a bit easier after it rains.

It's the same road but every time I go up Mt Hamilton I see something different and beautiful, especially at sunset. Mines Rd, though, isn't that photogenic, imo.

Last week on Mt Ham when the smoke was around:

Not much happening at The Junction on my first stop

Made a stop here on the way to Lick cuz on one of the rare times I used my rear brake there was none.

This almost worked. Then I found a little staple but it fell out by the time I got to the top. Up there I "tie wrapped" it with a small drinking straw.

There was a serious looking MC crash in the speedy esses area where the two horses always are. Rider was being tended to in the road. Several bikes and 2 or 3 cars were stopped. There were 5 emergency vehicles going up as I was going toward Livermore.

Wishing the best for the rider.

We have a few straight roads in the area. This is Swan Falls Road. I accelerated through the gears a few times on this road. Tires are only rated for 100 mph, so redline was hit in only the first three gears.

Stopped for a quick pic at my favorite spot...

Now that school is back in session and the tourist numbers have been reduced, Hwy 1 south is bearable on weekdays. (Construction at Rio Road is almost completed as well.)

San Juan Hwy

Imagine having one of these on your property - so much room to park all the bikes!
