Never knew it was called Clear Creek.

My friend and I took that road up to Spooner Summit for our "Riding about Lake Tahoe" bicycle trip.

Note, the road doesn't connect to Hwy 50 (or it didn't back then, or if it did, we bailed before it did). We just push^H^H^H^Hdragged the bikes up the side of the hill. Why, yes, actually, it is kind of steep, thanks for noticing!

This is one of those trips that would never happen today.

How many folks would give their 14 year old son a $20 bill so that he and his friend could run off camping in the local mountains for 3 days. To say we were ill prepared is generous, but we muddled through.

We went from Carson to Incline Village the first day, IV down to Stateline the next, then home.

We bumped in to my Mom at a drive in on the side of Hwy 50 on the way up to the summit out of the Lake Tahoe Basin. She was just up there waiting for us, and I recognized the car.

In all it was as much walking as riding. It's not like we were bicycle athletes. Beyond just riding around town and to school every day, and it's hilly country.

We camped like hobo's in the woods.

Great adventure.
