With all the abandoned places you explore on quiet mornings, I’m surprised you haven’t come across a dead body or 2, a la any “Law & Order” episode....

Most of the "abandoned places" near Alameda NAS, Hunters Point, Fort Ord and Treasure Island aren't that remote. There are often people and businesses right around the corner. I wouldn't want to be in some of those places alone at night, though.

Scooters on Highway 70 got bought out by Jake's Burgers in Oroville. Meaning the food at Scooters (now Jake's) is way better.

They have some good twisty roads in the area.

While there I came across 4 separate men and 1 woman (!) who appeared to be squatters. Can't imagine their lives with no heat, plumbing, food, locked doors...

Found a kindred spirit with another 790R. Went somewhere I knew there wouldn't be snow. Good ride overall.

Thought I'd share this cool pic I took at Knoxville BLM area a few weeks ago.

Fire roads near the Highway 32/36 intersection. Came really close to dropping the bike in the snow. I thought this was all the snow I'd see today till I headed to Butte Meadows.

Not much snow up 32 (had to get off the road to find it)but was surprised how much I saw between Butte Meadows and Paradise.

So don't ride it in the snow! Duh.



Just kidding, but I always turn around once I get to the snow and sometimes if there is too much mud as well. We still have lots of snow around here.
