Pope Palpatine...er...Pope Benedict XVI dead

I have nothing against religion as long as it doesn't lead to the massacres of young and old.

Oh Honey, they almost always do. Religion is just an expression of Human Nature and that is what humans do.

Penis.

I find it so ironic, that if it wasn't for philandering murderous tyrant (Henry VIII) the US would possibly be Catholic today.

You’re totally right! I’m currently reading about Thomas Becket and his martyrdom. That king was savage! “Will someone rid me of this meddlesome priest!?”

Anyhow, as a kid with a Catholic mom and an agnostic dad (opposites attract), I went to Moreau High. There were some terrifying teachers there, especially the ones in Bible Studies. However, all my science teachers were awesome and encouraged my interest in physics and to go on to pursue engineering so I do have them to thank for molding me into the person I am today.

There are both the good and bad in every religion right?

Good and bad in every aspect of life.

Good and bad in every aspect of life.

Mostly true. But history teaches that organized religions, like all cults, tend to attract the worst among us as leaders and prey on the weakest among us.

The Korean community in my hood does a lot to help abused kids. They do it in the name of religion, whatever works. Sure religion is BS but even a poison has its benefits.

never let it be said that every dark cloud doesn’t have a silver lining:

“With the burial of Pope Benedict on Thursday, Pope Francis, never bashful about exercising his power, is for the first time unbound.”

“Indeed, religiously conservative critics of Pope Francis are already fearing the worst.”

“Bad times coming for faithful orthodox Catholics.”

:thumbup

they taught me as a child—and I believe them—that our Pope is “infallible,” so of course Mr Pope Francis has his bases covered wrt leaving our mortal coil anytime soon, heaven forbid:

By the end of the year, Pope Francis will almost certainly pack the College of Cardinals with handpicked appointees.

His chosen prelates will most likely then make up two-thirds of the body, the threshold necessary for electing the next pope.

silver linings, everywhere—and no matter what—maybe. :toothless

It's this blind faith that has urged some alter boys around the world to stand with their backs against walls. :later

They sure left some pretty buildings around Europe.

God noticed. And God knew what the French Catholic priests/bishops were up to. The destructive fire at the Notre Dame cathedral was a dire warning for the Catholic hierarchy to clean up it's act.

But since when has the Catholic hierarchy taken the works of God seriously?

that’s certainly true. I try to own our egregious scandals, and never seek to minimize or excuse them.

hopefully my Pope Francis, unbound, post reflected a little bit the current schism in the Church, speaking of backs against the wall—think you’ve heard my story about my mother warning me never to turn my own back on the conservative Catholics amongst our family and friends, lest they stick a knife in it. :laughing

always those closest to us that will probably do us harm in this vale of tears, was her lesson, maybe—there’s human nature for me. betrayed with a kiss, and all that. :facepalm:angel:party

Damn clergy....

Le Canard Enchaîné reported:

“Electric wires were running in the roof, placed there at the express demand of the clergy. Despite the risk of short-circuiting, and in breach of all the safety regulations laid out by the chief architects of historic monuments.”

Are you saying this wouldn't happen unless Pope Benedict XVI was around? that he personally is responsible for the Korean community helping abused kids?

you are a master and I love it.

Thank you for recognizing my status as a master of the penis. This is of course always important when talking about religion.

Pope Bendeict's Holy War against King Mexican Bad Touch was a pretty good thing.
