Does this make you an Egomaniac?
I’ve got one too. They work very well.
I went with the brushless version...which was unfortunately a lot more expensive...but I figure the longevity of the motor plus the lower friction and heat generation would help with battery life. Initial tests seem to confirm that assumption. I've got 3/4 of an acre to mow and got it all done with two bars left on the battery.
Nice!
Now get some mirrors...
I have been down that road your on before..................For the last 40 years I’ve done everything I could to avoid riding an HD. I’m not sure what happened a few months ago, but I decided I wanted another orange bike. I found an XR1200 in inSane Diego. I left home at 0200 got to SD, loaded it up and drove home the same day.
It’s the heaviest (570lb) and weakest (90hp) bike I’ve owned since 1985. After the first ride, I knew I needed to do the suspension immediately.
I chose GP Suspension (owned by a BARFer) and sent the forks off to be rebuilt, and ordered Ohlins shocks. The recommended shocks are 2in (!!!) longer than stock and the XR already leaned over quite far on its Jiffy Stand. I purchased a Jiffy Stand extension for a little more peace of mind.
It took a few weeks for the forks to be completed, and almost 4 months for Ohlins to ship the shocks. That gave me an opportunity to test the forks independently from the shocks. The stock forks were slightly better than screendoor cylinders. The bike porpoised with any throttle adjustments. The rear shocks felt like I was riding a hard tail.
I’m very, very happy with the results. The bike is much more composed on all surfaces, and with brake / throttle adjustments.
The combination of forks and shocks has raised the bike enough that I’m on the very tips of my toes. It’s going to take some getting used to. I’ve got the spring preload reduced about as far as I want to at this time.
