My immediate reaction is the dog needs to go now. Can't risk it.

My logical thought, is the dog needs to go now.

My emotional thought is that the wife needs to commit to training it, reinforcing the training, and keeping the dog separate from the kids at all times... And the moment it does anything it goes away and hope that it doesn't permanently scar or worse one of the kids... Because then it's over for everyone.

You know your dog. If it has a bad history, like you shouldn't have had it regardless of the babies, then the dog already had to go and still has to. Otherwise, its fine, dogs give warnings and it doesn't mean they're going to go insane.

Good morning!
Koi, that’s a tough situation but I believe a trainer can work with it. Hera seems like a family dog with the interactions I’ve seen, but I don’t know about the food thing.
Horrible for you, I’m sorry.

It's going to take work on koitney's part. This is her doing, it's her... "Service dog"... It's her responsibility.

I'm dying on this hill.

Not liking this part guys.

I understand the concern, but I also feel like it is a responsibility you guys took on, and fairly recently if I recall. A responsibility that you can't just shirk when things don't go perfect. Now I don't have kids, so I will withhold my judgment. But it pains me when I see people dump their fur babies because they got the real thing. Take care of all of your babies.

It's not something I'm considering lightly man, believe me. It would kill koitney to have to do it, I would also really be sad about it too. Hera is a good pup, just with some trauma which we've done a lot of work on to move past.

IMO, with the last two years of baby making, she's gotten lax on reinforcing and continuing training. I get it, a lot of spoons used up. But I told you so isn't going to make anyone feel better when we're in a hospital getting stitches, or worse.

Back to basics, some aggressive dog training which is basically tap her on the butt or pull her tail and then give her a treat when she doesn't react, and keep them separate for awhile. As in, dog is out of the room if there is food, or loose babies.

I watched the video, dog wasn't even begging but just laying down. Wolverine crawled over and reached out, touching her butt. Hera whipped around and, but sure is nipped or just kind of head-butted the kid but definitely growled while doing it.

So less scared about jealousy and think it's more training to stop reactions. But I still think it's cause and effect so until that happens, separation. We already had to buy a super prison when she tried to play with them too hard, this is just the next step.

I hope...

We have never re-homed an animal and have never had a problem with a dog around our kids. The dogs were well trained to be sure, but their nature was gentle too. That part wasn’t something we did.

If a dog is showing aggressive behavior towards an infant, the solution needs to be foolproof. If you can keep them separated and supervised, great, but your kid’s life is on the line. There are situations where the dog must be removed from the situation, whether you like it or not.

We tend to see our dogs as fur kids, but they are not the same. They are definitely not the same in the eyes of the law and a worst nightmare scenario is the dog kills your child and you are subsequently prosecuted for endangering the child.

Yeah but you know your dog and it's fear that tries to trick us into thinking we don't. We could also be a delusional idiot and those are the ones that typically have problems, but I don't think anyone here is like that. If you have a pitbull with a big spike collar and have to tell scared people ten times a day that no-really-it's-a-great-dog and you drive around in an escalade on 22's, then...get rid of the dog. Otherwise, it's just the normal new parent feelings.

LOL, my dog is the opposite. Everyone wants to pet him but he is a total wussy. So I have to warn people that he is a big chicken and just be ok with him not wanting you to pet him.

Hera is like that, especially with men who kneel to pet her. Bending at the waist is fine but one of her triggers is men who take a knee to pet her. A woman can do it with no reaction. I always warn people to not take it seriously.

She is also evidently really scared of other photographers at the track and will start shaking if forced to be pet by them. Not sure if that's a trigger or just a good sense of character as it's not all of them

She also doesn't like high pitched baby talk.

Or bouncing basketballs or yoga balls.

She's never liked her but touched and will get protective of it at dog parks if she gets mounted too many times, but has never reacted violently before to a human.

The really weird thing is that my dog is terrified of women, but not men. I have had him since he was 8 weeks old so I can't explain it. Other than potentially when he was a puppy I took him to some puppy classes and the lady trainer was irritating and overbearing. She never did anything to him to cause this, but one time we were walking and this lady came along the trail that walked just like that lady. He shit bricks in fear.

I don't get it, but we are working on it. He's gotten a lot better and now will let women pet him.

dogs react to people then react to their reaction. Being scared of dogs only makes them scared of you. Children often haven't been taught how to act around dogs and react to them unpredictably. Dogs that aren't well trained, well behaved and mellow can have negative reactions to children or the children can have negative reactions to the dog.
The problem with dogs you haven't raised from a pup is you don't really know what's happened in their past that might be an unexpected trigger.

Very much with her and it's taken some trial and error to learn hers.

My guess, it's she was a family dog that divorced, Dad kept the dog but didn't have time for it so just tied it up in the yard. Would hit her on the butt when she barked, and probably threw basketballs at her or something similar and sprayed her with a hose.

But she's always been great with kids so this is new

Re-home, if you so want.

Looks like that's why people say "shouldn't have dogs with kids".

Sad face. Missed a walk-in no profit help already.

A Tesla was going to run me over and another guy, too. He splashed half a water cup on her.

:(

Our dog bit our son when he was a toddler. I saw it happen... dog asleep, kid comes out of nowhere and lands on him. Bit him just hard enough to draw a couple drops of blood. We took a lot of heat from both sides of the family to get rid of the dog, but we decided to keep him. I kept a close eye on both for a while, and we had no further issues. Tough decision to make.

Little tree in the kitchen counter area up, ornaments added.

The ornaments came out of Christmas Crackers over the years and I knew I'd find a use for them eventually.

If you don't do Christmas Crackers and wear the silly hats that come inside you should.

Big tree up in the living room, ornaments tomorrow.

Finished about half of the Christmas cards; 9 international, 35 Domestic.

Smoked pig for Christmas dinner for 16 ordered from Willowside Meats

All but one present already purchased.

Wife is shopped for. Still waiting on her bday present and no communication about it's shipping status but... I'm not worrying yet.
