Drawers, doors, cupboards. We've ceded one of them to the cats, stocking it with pillows and propping the door open. The linen closet has been claimed as well.

As a general rule, none of our doors (including closets) are closed in our house. Every now and then we hear the scratching and light slams of one of them trying to open one of the cupboards.

You are already doomed. Polydactyl cats are a real thing. My dread is when they hook up with great whites or orcas. Cat overlords are coming.
 
She looks behind the tv thinking that’s where the mouse went. And will sit there for a while looking at the screen even when the tv is off waiting to put that video on.
 
I remember when our cat, I guess, first saw herself in the mirror. Whatever she saw, she did not like! But she got used to it in time.
 
My two current rescue office buddies
They are not related, not the same age, nor do they come from the same property but they bonded with each other and I love them dearly
When I finally leave they are coming with me
