Post your best pussycat photos here! (FELINES ONLY!)

Bella, our black cat approaching 16, has gray hairs in her.
A gray hair here and there or more? The picture I posted of my black cat she only had a couple of gray / white hairs when she approached 18yrs

My 6 yr old dog on the other hand is getting a graying muzzle

Just checking now and the app does have a prompt asking to give permission to use my tablet’s microphone.
There was no mention of that being an option when the kennel setup my webcam access. Gonna shoot an email and ask.
Not sure if it’s a good idea or not to have her hear my voice but then not show up.

Check the webcam a few times again today and she’s been under the blanket each time.
Kennel employee emailed me saying she’s been growling at them but also included a pic of her showing interest in a toy they tried getting her to play with.

Her kennel is just 32sqft. It’s like locking her in a bathroom for a week, seems like torture.
Six more nights to go, I’m concerned about any lingering negative effects.

i hire an in home kitty sitter. its less stressful.

i know you feel bad but you’re being a good cat dad and ensuring she has good care even if she’s not thrilled. don’t beat yourself up.

That is awesome 💕 and I think you have become a official cat dude 🤣

I suppose so which is kinda weird cause I didn’t want a pet and ended up with this one cause of odd circumstance.
But now that she’s here I guess we have a deal, she allows me to take pictures as long as I give her food.
It’s still early days of pet ownership so pic posting will eventually taper off as I return to making unrelated dumb comments elsewhere on the barf.

She back almost two weeks now none the worse for it.
I had to book the kennel months in advance which won’t work in an emergency or leaving town on short notice.
I’ll have to look into other options to have a plan B & C and maybe D for next time.

FWIW - My son has to go out of town for a week at times and he has setup a automatic feeder, gravity water dispenser, extra litter box and cameras. He has a co-worker check on him 1 or 2 times during that week.

I am so grateful for the kitty sitter I have. :)

I am, too. She is a long-time friend, and her life revolves around animals. She fosters all the old and/or sick cats with issues, and she is a full-time pet sitter, although retirement is looming. She comes in, puts the food and fresh water down, cleans out the cat box, then hangs out on the couch til Mae is done with her wet food. While Apollo is hiding under the bed from the dangerous cat-murdering stranger in his house, she plays with Mae with a string toy or the red dot laser. Huge peace of mind for me.

We turned our deck into a catio for when we’re out of town. The big catio door is left open and there is a microchip-activated cat door for access outside when we’re home. They can come and go as they please, but the raccoons, skunks, squirrels, opossums, and neighborhood cats can no longer get in. We can set a curfew time for the flap to lock. They can come in but can’t get back out. It’s been a godsend.

We also bought some PETLIBRO automatic feeders for dry food. They work great for when we’re gone for a weekend…no pet-sitter needed! We can set them to drop food on a schedule, and if we’re away from home on a trip and see them on the cameras hanging around an empty bowl we can just drop food with the phone app. The best part is no more harassment at 5:00am, when they used to get fed before we retired. Now the food drops automatically while we sleep in! PETLIBRO also has automatic wet food feeders that keep the food chilled for a few days. Haven’t tried those yet.

The cameras have been a huge part of our peace of mind when traveling. It’s fun to watch them eating, sleeping, playing in the catio, and just living their happy cat lives.

I’m guessing if you had a setup like this you could leave your kitty home while traveling, and she would be much more comfortable. At any rate, keep those photos coming, blankpage! 🖤

Here’s Apollo being a not-so-mighty hunter…IMG_3855.jpegIMG_3854.jpeg

Those cats are living the dream. My cat would likely go nuts if she saw a bird like that within such close range.
Would be awesome to have a place like that were I could let her out but my neighborhood isn’t safe for roaming pets.
Can’t bring a cat to a park like you could with a dog. If something spooked her she’d never be seen again.

Well, in all honesty, they’re probably safer in Oakland than they are at our place in Miramonte. We watch them like hawks when they’re outside there. We’ve seen a few bobcats come through while outside, there are always huge hawks and owls, and we hear coyotes howling all the time, although that is usually during the times the cats are inside. They are never out at night, nor at dusk or dawn. We put them on leashes and harnesses when we first got the place, as they were kinda freaked out. Once they got used to it, and had a better sense of their boundaries, we let them go. We also got them some Tractive GPS collars. They are hardly ever out of our sight when outside. It’s nice, because it forces us to slow down and enjoy the place ourselves! They don’t care for the car ride but absolutely love it there. They know when we’re getting close and start losing their shit once we get about 1/2 mile away 😄

During the heat wave this summer Mae found the coolest spot on the property. Air temp on the cool granite in the middle of the creek was 88, temp on the bank was 96, and the temp on the deck 20’ away from her was 101. She’s no dummy!

You’ll have to zoom in to find her!
She’s probably one of the smartest cats I’ve ever had.

That does look like an awesome place to chill, no wonder they’re excited to arrive at the end of the drive.
Like you say there’s a ton of hazards out in the country stalking anything that moves. Even when watching wild animals can snag a cat before you even know what’s happening. That would be pretty horrible to see.

I bought a leash to walk my cat out on the patio but was only one cheap stiff uncomfortable version at the store so I never bothered using it yet. I’ll shop for something better.
But she doesn’t seem that interested in going outside. I’ll carry her out to the patio to check out the scene but she either doesn’t like being outside or doesn’t like being picked up. She’ll get restless and want to go back inside after a couple of minutes.
