PSA Re: Bicyclists

i tired to reach the Dutch

I got a busy signal.... :teeth

Not a bad idea.:ride

Thanks for mentioning this. I'm a roady too and have had close calls but have never been doored. I know people that have. They often result in serious injury as spandex does not offer much protection when hitting the edge or interior of a car door.

He's being more of a straight talker on these facts actually. Riding a bicycle in urban environment is tougher than some people realize..

If it's the Mercedes truck on 8th St and Bryant, well duh, it is blocking that place at some times.

I agree that it's tougher than people realize. Some people just shouldn't do it.

If you can't handle the bustle gracefully, it's probably best to find another means of transportation.

Like I thought. Internet tough guy, unapologetic. Typical American driving attitude. Everything is someone else's fault, I'd rather get into a fight that admit I'm wrong.

Are you referring to hyphenated Americans too?

Anyway, this is the result of mixing bikes and autos. It's a natural and expected outcome (if one cares to think a little). This trend will continue to worsen and sharrows proliferate. Some day the shoulder/breakdown lane on our freeways will be bike lanes, too... makes as much sense.

Perhaps your only problem is your expectation?

If someone accidentally almost kills you, you should suck it up?

Yep.

Yep.

What's a hyphenated american?

I apologize for disparaging "Americans", that was BS. I find the "culture" of apathy and selfishness in San Francisco causes people to only look out for themselves.

And I don't know I just see "Americans" all around...I'm not Canadian-American as I don't have dual citizenship.

I do run into plenty of nice good people every day, just not when they're in a car. Though I did appreciate that one dude not running me over the other day,

I just think it's the natural result of the grossly pervasive situation. People are all about number one and have lost vision of who that really is.

I ordered an electric horn we'll see how it works because there have been more times I've needed a horn on a bicycle than on my moto.

I was hit on my bike while blasting a air horn, wearing bright, reflective gear, bright light, in the bike lane and wearing a helmet. The driver said he heard the horn, but still hit me after I swerved over 2 lanes. I rode home with bruises.

His insurance took care of me. Pro tip: ask for "pain and suffering" money for easy cash outside of court.

Pretty funny

I just recognized this guy as the dude who flew the $26,000 trip fron the middle east and documented it.

For sure...I mean we're motorcyclists, I ride my bicycle like I'm invisible.

I can see things annoying cagers, like two cyclists chatting with each other and thus riding slower, but the cars get caught at the stop sign or light 99.99% of the time. Aggressively beating me to the end of the block accomplishes nothing.
