Red Dead Redemption

I'm lovin' this game, and taking my sweet time exploring too. About 46% of the way through SP, and level 16 in MP. Can't say enough about how much fun this game is, I highly recommend it!!

Haven't played online....but this game is pretty addictive and very fun.:thumbup

I went on steam to buy this and then saw on a wiki that it was console only.

F'n consoles.

Whats the overall consensus for this game now that some of you have put some hours into it? Yea or nah?

Overwhelming yea for me. Although I do love the heck out of the GTA series and sandbox games in general. This game is so awesome.

I lost 4 horses last night, including that gold stallion I broke during one of Bonnie's missions. Damn that horse was fast. Fucking cougar came out of nowhere and killed it from underneath me. I lost 2 more horses in my quest to exact vengeance against the cougars. 3 horses lost vs 8 cougars killed.

The other horse I accidentally shot in the head in Dead-eye mode while trying to do the "kill 2 different animals with 1 Dead-eye meter" requirement for the sharpshooter challenge. I had a rattler and a crow lined up. As soon as I started shooting the horse bucked, bringing it's head right up into the line of fire of the crow. -50 Honor to add insult to injury. Still got the challenge but it was a long walk to Thieves' Landing in the dark.

So is the single player really short and insignificant? My xbox isn't online (I don't use it anywhere close to enough to justify that)...I see someone said they're nearly halfway through it already, so it looks like it isn't worth it to buy for single player. :|

I'm loving single player. I've got a good amount of time put into it. One person said they beat single player in 20 hours so Its possible. I'm at about 20 hours and I'm at 1/3 of the game.

No, single player is nowhere near short. Even if you rush through the game and do the main quests only you'll be gaming for many fun hours. Since its a sandbox type game there are countless side quests or jobs you could do. The game randomly generates opportunities for you to assist folks (i.e. someone is stealing my horse, please run him down and retrieve the horse for me), you can hunt down bounties, or you could take a different tack and become the biggest bastage in the west.

This game is 100% worth it for single player alone in my humble opinion. I'm at about 16 hours player and 35% through the game. Some days I work on main story line quests, others I ignore that completely and hunt down bounties or go looking to rope and break a better, faster horse.

I just looked at my stats on Social Club:

* Game completed
* 22.1%

* Total time played
* 18:08:28

Paid $50 for it. That's $2.75 for every hour of fun so far. All single-player, oh the hilarity that will ensue when we get the MW2 nutjobs into one posse in MP. Monetarily, the game is already a great value for me. Alright, so I'm sleep-deprived, and can't focus on work, but still...

I gotta say, multiplayer is pretty terrible for me. It's like single player, but less to do, way more glitchy, I get dropped out of games constantly, and nobody I know owns the game yet, so I can't posse up. I'm sticking to single player for now.

If it weren't for the horse murderers, this game would be near perfect for me. Hitched up in armadillo when I heard a whore being assulted. Shot the guy dead, came back to find my stallion in a taking a fresh dirt nap. Seriously, who does that?

Joking aside, the rest of the year is a ways off, but Red Dead Redemption will almost surely prove to be one of the best games of the year.

Agreed. Best game of the year for me so far. Not counting MW2 since that came out last November. It's been a nice bonus since this game wasn't even on my radar. I played Red Dead Revolver on the PS2 and hated it, gave up after half an hour, so when I heard about Redemption I automatically dismissed it.

This just might tide me over until Fallout: New Vegas comes out in the fall. :laughing

I can't wait for the new fall out. I really liked the old red dead game. I had it for PC and it was pretty fun. I'm glad I picked red dead over alan wake. I'm sure alan wake is a good game but I don't think I would have enjoyed it as much as red dead.

Speaking of whores. I ran into one somewhere northwest of Hennigan Stead. I was on the horse and she begged me for a ride. As soon as I got close to her she yanked me off the horse and took off with it. Pissed me the hell off so I shot her. Wish I had the chance to lasso her and dump her on the tracks for that Dastardly achievement instead.

Don't trust them bitches.

99% completion at 26 hours. ive got a few more unique bounties to finish up for 100%

seeing as ive done pretty much everything in SP, i'd say it's worth it. real fun and big game. hope they push out some episodic dlc like they did with gta4

Storm, do you normally play during the day?

That's when I'm on most of the time. I'll hit you up again... I had to bounce earlier, because my son was being fussy.

Damn... 13 levels today already? Nice!

Alan Wake is another subject entirely. I wish these games hadn't come out together. I would have liked to have savored Alan Wake more.

Alright bishes, just bought this game. No idea how to play but want to play multiplayer for a bit.

Add me on PS3: GiuseppeM
