When I first got my 929, it was street only. It killed me to do so, but I wouldn't smoke a thing on the first leg so that I could ride like a maniac and hone my worthless skilz. Then I would find a nice place to park and relax. Rip some splief and start riding like a normal human the rest of the way.

So...I think I'm much more safe riding, well you know...

I could never do it,I do know a few people who do get stoned before they ride and can't believe that they are functional enough to ride,.:cool

The research has been done, a couple times. The findings are consistent: Smaller amounts make safer drivers, yes, safer! Larger amounds affect reactions and judgement.

Please post your source for this drivel.

Here's a link you might be interested in though I'm confident you'll dismiss it as propoganda:

"In a study conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, a moderate dose of marijuana alone was shown to impair driving performance; however, the effects of even a low dose of marijuana combined with alcohol were markedly greater than for either drug alone37. Driving indices measured included reaction time, visual search frequency (driver checking side streets), and the ability to perceive and/or respond to changes in the relative velocity of other vehicles."

Of course we are going to say it's just propaganda... because that's what it is.

"Studies show that approximately 6 to 11 percent of fatal accident victims test positive for THC. In many of these cases, alcohol is detected as well."

So someone gets in an accident, they get a blood test and the cops find weed and alcohol in their system. Marijuana stays in your blood for up to a month, and you cannot detect the "level" of marijuana in the blood stream. Alcohol however is totally different, and you can easily determine how intoxicated someone is.

All that statistic is saying is about 6-11 percent of drunk drivers smoked some weed before they set out in their vehicle. Big surprise.

oh wow, rooflz, for realz? I can't believe this is actually discussed.

Amazing, huh!

With all the RIP threads on this forum you'd think we'd be preaching riding with your maximum faculties...not discussing how things that obviously diminish those faculties are really not that bad.

You shouldn't ride tired, hungover, distracted, angry etc. etc., let alone stoned.

But hey, if folks want to do it, fine, just don't tell others you are not diminishing your faculties and thereby increasing your odds of something bad happening.

I like to ride my moto spun out on crystal :teeth I think it makes me a better rider: studies have shown that it enhances reflexes and accelerates reaction time. I would only recommend 'riding while gacked-out' for experienced meth users, however; I think that tweeker n00bs are too likely to over-correct if they were to see a shadow person jump out from the corner of their visor or something.

gotta try that!

Agreed, for new riders I recommend smoothing things out with just a touch of heroine at least for the first couple of months until your body gets used the regular meth use.

You basically just proved my point. Thanks.

I can ride while stoned but prefer to ride sober....I have found that my level of riding is much better while sober!

Driving/riding under the influence of any drug, (alcohol..pot..meth..whatever) should be punishable by lifetime suspension of any driving/motorcycle license.

And, if one is caught again they should be locked up forever. (I only say this because none of the BHLs are going to let offenders suffer execution.)

I almost always ride completely sober. However, once at the wall Dusty busted out a big spliff so I took a hit off of it. Hadn't smoked in awhile, so I got totally freeking baked off one hit.

I just sat on the wall looking at the bikes thinking to myself "Jesus, these things are soooo fucking dangerous......man, motorcycling is gawdamn crazy!! But dayamn, that 1098 is beautiful man, just gorgeous!!!"

Then I was too afraid to ride hme, but did anyway. On the way down Fish Ranch, I kept thinking "a fucking deer is going to jump out in front of me, I just KNOW it....."

:laughing

Made it home safely and try not to smoke while riding, or before riding now. But yeah, I know shit loads of folks who do. From 21 year old kids to 60 year old men.

Haha on that note, i wonder how many riders actually get in trouble with the law because they are "riding stoned." I don't feel like a cop would expect most riders to be high on marijuana, more alcohol and or amphetamines. Plus its not like you can smoke while riding, so its not the smell of pot is going to be an issue. I'm sure plenty of people's eyes tear up and get irritated when riding with their windshield up and no sunglasses.

Are there any officers on here that can name an instance when they pulled over a rider for what ever reason, said to themselves "Man this guy seems stoned out of his gord"? Just curious.

Why is it fine? It could be you or me or some child crossing the street that some stoned douche fuck kills. That's not fine in my book.

One of the real success stories in motorcycle safety is a reduction in alcohol-fueled crashes among young riders over the past 15 years. Under-30 riders who are involved in fatal crashes today are much less likely to have BAC above 0 than are riders 30-50. They're also less likely to have BAC > 0 than drivers in fatal crashes in the same age group.

I wouldn't have thought it would be necessary to repeat admonitions about the deadly consequences of impaired judgment for every possible intoxicant. :rolleyes
