Maybe if you view motorcycling as a "hobby", its not for you

Hobby: an activity or interest pursued for pleasure or relaxation and not as a main occupation.

I'm curious as to what you'd consider it? Here's a hint- they don't keep times on 9, despite the fact that some people think they can "win" it. If you think it's a sport and not a hobby, then maybe street riding isn't for you.

Come on folks, you get a light buzz like when you smoke a cigarette. It's not like you can't tie your shoes or something. I would love to see a test of form and function before and after smoking.

Not quite sure what kind of buds youre smoking, but what I smoke certainly does not render me a buzz anything like smoking a cigarette. Is yours brown ?!?!

I certainly can tie my shoes but there is no way in hell I would consider riding while under the influence of the buds I smoke !!!

Not a good idea, of course. Nobody is going to say that street riding is safer stoned. On the other hand, some of my friends from high school, until very recently (like almost 30 years old now) did everything stoned. Amazing what a stoner can do stoned compared to an occasional smoker.

Who are these "a lot of people"? Have you gone and done research on it? Or do you know a few people who do it, and automatically assume "a lot of people do it"?

I don't know your level of experience as a rider and have never ridden with you but you do seem to be new here. I would wait a while around this place(on BARF that is) before dispensing advice with such a strong hand.

Sorry, I didn't realize that the number of posts I've made on one particular interweb forum was relevant to the topic at hand.. Which was an opinion poll..

Looking at the numbers on the poll, I see I may have only offended the 19 or so stoners that have tossed in their vote, so I'm not really worried about it..

I guess the only thing my experience has to do with anything is my perspective on the issue. I don't ride to "cruise" or commute.. I don't generally ride slow, and I am almost always to be found with other like-paced riders on the street who trust that I am not going to do anything stupid.. I guess the whole pot-while-riding debate, for me, would equate to pot-while-railing... Which, from my perspective, would be an incredibly bad idea.. But I'm just sharing my opinion, which seems to be shared by the majority.

This thread just cracks me up. We have the doper justifications for irresponsible smoking like:

A. People who vote against it - don't smoke.
It's BARF. California Bay Area!!! It's not a Kansas forum. I will bet my bike that most voters have smoked and/or still do smoke pot.

B. I know a guy who smokes and he rocks.
How would a doper know? You are smoking dope, too.

C. It's not like drinking or nuttin'.

See above. You are stoned. How the hell would you know?
Barfers with experience riding and smoking say that they don't mix the two.

This is just like every other drug, from alcohol to heroin: The addicted always have excuses for irresponsible behavior and THEIR drug of choice does not effect them.

I started to read some of the ludicrous comments to my wife. She got angry and said she didn't want to hear the bull-shit. She use to be a "Dead Head". But, what would she know about smoking dope.

Driving/riding under the influence of any drug, (alcohol..pot..meth..whatever) should be punishable by lifetime suspension of any driving/motorcycle license.

And, if one is caught again they should be locked up forever. (I only say this because none of the BHLs are going to let offenders suffer execution.)

Are you going to add drugs like Adrenaline, Testosterone, and the like to the list of drugs punishable by lifetime suspension of vehicular privileges?

What the hell has that got to do with anything? You ever seen a row of light-equipped babies on the street? Was the person who designed the test high?

It has to do with testing personal reaction times by re-creating scenarious which happen on the street, and seeing if there are differences in reaction with being drunk or stoned (personally, for this lady).

As far as the babies are concerned, maybe their representative of children running across the street, but i hear the British can use a healthy dose of sarcasm..
