OK OK OK hold on...in the video they test for how high or drunk she is by making her swerve around a row of babies when some lights come on?

Seems like just a slightly upscale version of one of the tests run in the MSF. The one where you need to swerve either left or right around an obstacle when the instructor points left or right.

I would assume they used babies just to drive the point home ...

Track day.

This thread just cracks me up. We have the doper justifications for irresponsible smoking like:

A. People who vote against it - don't smoke. :rolleyes
It's BARF. California Bay Area!!! It's not a Kansas forum. I will bet my bike that most voters have smoked and/or still do smoke pot.

B. I know a guy who smokes and he rocks. :laughing
How would a doper know? You are smoking dope, too.

C. It's not like drinking or nuttin'. :rofl
:orly
See above. You are stoned. How the hell would you know?
Barfers with experience riding and smoking say that they don't mix the two.

This is just like every other drug, from alcohol to heroin: The addicted always have excuses for irresponsible behavior and THEIR drug of choice does not effect them.

I started to read some of the ludicrous comments to my wife. She got angry and said she didn't want to hear the bull-shit. She use to be a "Dead Head". But, what would she know about smoking dope.
:rofl

Seriously that's all you have to say for yourself? Way to make non-smokers seem ignorant as hell.

I like how you say "non-smokers" as if that's some kind of group that could be generalized at all.

I am guessing that alot of people don't want to admit through the poll to smoking while riding just in case it can be traced to them somehow- the level of positive responses might be artificially low because of this.

I know alot of people who ride very well stoned; I know nobody who rides well after drinking.

I did not vote.

That chick's gotta learn how to handle her smoke - she freaked out after 2 hits :laughing

That woman obviously has never smoked marijuana more than 3 times in her entire life. That was like a scene out of the movie Black Sheep, going like half the speed limit... who does that???

She was driving like crap when she was stoned, but at least she wasn't driving like crap AND driving like a maniac when she was drunk. Anyone who thinks all drugs are the same and "a doper is a doper" needs to go take a high school health class.

Just like the seasoned smoker argument there is a flip-side to this one too..

I am 6'7" tall, nearly 300lbs of pure Viking... For me, 2 or 3 beers might as well have been Gatorade.. I'm sure I could ride just fine, but I never would nor would I hand out advise like drinking and riding is ok cause I think I could handle it... For some folks, one hard toke and they are staring at the ceiling freaking out about the texture for an hour... Others could smoke a bowl and get bored and want to watch a movie or solve a crossword...

I still don't think it's right to hand out advise like "if you can tolerate it and are. A skilled rider go for it.."

That leaves it up to the individual to decide what is "too much".

Ok I think I'm done hammering on this :rolleyes

Regardless of the woman's test, there is some interesting information in there. If you listen to the voice-over she says something like: "According to a British Medical Journal report, the risk of being involved in a serious accident is 6 times greater when drunk and twice as great on cannibis."

So maybe not as bad as being drunk, but still bad.

Frankly I'm somewhat puzzled by the folks that answered "Who cares?" It seems everyone should care one way or the other, because it could be affecting *your* safety if marijuana does degrade driving ability and there are people out there doing it. So I would think that one would either have the opinion that there is no performance degradation and thus it's fine, or that one believes it does degrade performance and thus is a bad idea. But to not care ...

None of us is out there on the roads alone. What one person decides to do affects other people.

yea funny iwwas about to make a threadd about a nice group buy on a few keys. :wackyiraq :2cents :smoking

Every drug, including alcohol, more or less affects people in about the same way. Except for pot. You can't call it "impaired" for everyone. It's definitely under the influence, but not even close to impaired for some of my buddies. So let's get the terminology straight. For me..I can't handle being high and haven't smoked in about 7 years. It makes me lazy and self concious. Some people are like me and they eventually quit. Others seem to get a rush of energy from it and are able to focus. I never understood how, but Ive seen it first hand.

WEED!? fucking WEED!>!>!

come on try riding a 70 mile each way commute on OC 80s..........(did it rehabilitated now)

then we can talk about maybe not getting on the bike,....

man has anyone else seen that anti drug commercial where the girl passes out at a party and her "friends" draw on her and put strings on her arms like a puppet?

Thats one of my favorite commercials, i think its pretty funny :laughing

I have a friend who is an ultra-marathoner. He smokes before and while he is running. Including the Western States 100.

I have a hard time getting off the couch personally. :laughing

Not a fan of riding stoned. I rode back home from BFD this year with a passenger, both of us were smoking all day. Crossing over 85 from Shoreline to get to 101 south is quite the experience. You would think they would give you enough runway to safely merger over, but they don't.
