im perfectly comfortable with the idea, but then again....im a stoner.

too many variables just to make a "poll". it really would depend on your own comfort level: anything from your own comfort with smoking in general (i know a lot of people who cant even function anyway when they are stoned), and your own comfort level while operating a motorcycle in general.

+Big number

I am guessing that alot of people don't want to admit through the poll to smoking while riding just in case it can be traced to them somehow- the level of positive responses might be artificially low because of this.

I know alot of people who ride very well stoned; I know nobody who rides well after drinking.

I did not vote.

+Another, even bigger number

I don't smoke and wouldn't ride with somebody who has smoked recently.

Who cares...

If your a mj patient and are regularly smoking hour to hour than what's the difference between taking out the trash, cooking, wrecking, working, driving/riding. How are you impaired if that's how you live life. That's you. To all you pot smoking haters, open your eyes, people have been tokin' for thousands of years. Don't compare it to that to that nasty drink you take to throw up every night. Also go watch The Union: The Buisiness of Getting High, Maybe that will open your eyes to what it is and not what the government tells you so they don't have to admit they were wrong like the last prohibition which lead to mobsters like Al Capone

Ahh Kyle nobody cares if you toke up, nobody at all. Most of us don't want to be around you when you are riding high. Particularly at a trackday. I'd be the last person to care if you were growing and using daily. If I thought you were smoking at a trackday I would dime you in an instant.

I could go watch a video about a government conspiracy to cause 9/11, or about prison camps in the US. Anybody can make a video - doesn't make it true.

Also, just to say that you do something every day doesn't mean you aren't impaired while you do it. There are people who are legally prescribed morphine for their pain. That doesn't mean I should be OK with them operating a motorcycle as they inject themselves "hour to hour."

I'll feel free to compare "tokin'" to alcohol as well, since alcohol has also been around for thousands of years and we still see fit to say that one shouldn't drive after consuming it. Age doesn't change that fact.

I like the guy that got his medical marijuana card. He says he needs it because when he's out of weed he gets bummed out!

Thanx, Russ

i would assume most of the motorcycle community are not everyday smokers.

but if they were they would have learned high, rode high, and took the test high.

and passed them all :D

One assumption I am seeing on this thread is that ganja is a major sense impairing influence like a narcotic or booze. I suppose this would be possible of one were a complete stoner, in which case a moto is prolly just baaad idea in general.
Unlike most other intoxicants, pot can have a broad array of effects that are influenced by not only strength and quantity, but the individuals bodily make-up. An example is the A-type effect: gets tired, lazy and hungry. B-type is what I have experienced: Gets active, physiologically enhanced awareness and a bit of a creative bug. The few times I have operated a moto with one to two beers in me I have noticed that I have the urge to twist the wrist a bit more than I ought to .... liquid courage and all that bullshite. Not comfy with that, nor do I like the idea of others being slightly medicated on booze and driving or riding.
MJ however tends to make me hyper-alert which can sometimes be distracting. That would be the closest thing to so called impairment. IMPO mobile phones, anger, loud music, and cross-talk are more dangerous.
I might add that not everyone who ingests MJ does so to get fugged-up. More is not better.
