RIP Marco Simoncelli

RIP Marco. I always believed that he's got the right stuff to be a future MotoGP champion. I can't believe it got cut off so short like that from a freak accident.

Crushing news, he was so talented and entertaining, the heart of the next generation of GP stars. He was fun to watch and his style set him apart on the tarmac and in the paddock.

He pushed harder and took more risks than most, which was both a strength and a liability. Edwards and Rossi must be gutted, but we (and they) should be thankful they weren't seriously injured (or worse) in the incident too.

Pro racers seem to walk away regularly from significant accidents it's easy to forget how dangerous this sport is. This is a tremendous loss and a sobering reminder of the risks and potential consequences.

fuck! i awoke to this shit?! unfuckingbelievable!
poor Simoncelli. May he rest/ride in peace. he was damn good too.

this is too much. speechless

I recored the race and watched it this morning, that image of the empty helmet will stay with me forever.....:(

RIP Marco

I don't know what else to say.

Man - how sad. Even my wife who doesn't at all follow mc racing is so sad today. What a huge loss :(

Medical Director of MOTOGP

Michele Macchiagodena : “I’m very sad to be here to report about the death of Marco Simoncelli, a friend. Because of the crash he had during the race, in which he was hit by other riders, he suffered a very serious trauma to the head, to the neck and the chest. When our medical staff got to him he was unconscious. In the ambulance because there was a cardiac arrest they started CPR (cardiac pulmonary resuscitation). Immediately in the Medical Centre, with the help also of the Doctor of our staff at the Clinica Mobile and local Doctors, he was intubated and it was possible to take off some blood from the thorax. The CPR was continued for 45 minutes because we tried to help him for as long as we thought it was possible. Unfortunately it was not possible to help him and at 16:56 (local time) we had to declare he was dead.”

^^ Really cool picture

I always watch the No-Spolier vids Sunday morning before football, and wondered why it was only 30 min long. As soon as I saw the crash, I jumped out of my seat.

Respects, Marco

+1000... Couldnt have expressed myself better!!!!

It feels like a haze has covered my day and my mind!!!!!!

Just kind of numb!

Wonder how Rossi will take that in the long run. Continue on as usual? Retire? Get Duc to let him go and race Sic's bike and number next year? Sad for everyone.

Just got home, sat down with a cup of coffee to watch the race and.....now sitting here in tears. One of my favorite personalities of MotoGP. As soon as I saw the wreck I knew it was not survivable. Left me sick and shaken. terrible terrible day.

:rip Marco

The daily mail has a picture taken from the front side at the moment of impact with Rossi's front tire. The fact that the photo is blacked out at Marco's head should give you some kind of indication as to why the helmet failed. He died instantly.

I just found out. My emotions are... Tangled but for those who cared about Marco... I am sorry for your loss. Rest in piece young man.

R.I.P Marco

The fact that nearly everyone I know who is a race fan has a very, very similar picture of them with Simoncelli says a lot about the guy and his personality. He always took the time with fans.
