Not sure of the origin or reason behind this photo, but it's a wonderful photo none the less.

Fsck no! You were my favorite rider to watch this year! Godspeed. Rest in peace.
My prayers and condolences to his family, friends, team and Valentino.

:rip Marco. Clearly one of the best younger riders coming through. A real hard fighter on-track, and a fun kind and straight up polite guy off it. What a tragic loss, too young by far. Condolences to all his friends, family and fans.

We'll miss you Marco!

I remember sitting down and watching the GP of Aragon with my 9 year old son. The Moto2 that day was amazing. Still have both on the DVR. I went camping with my two boys over the weekend, it was a Cub Scout event. I learned of a rider death from my father, though he thought the rider was English. I looked it up and watched footage of the crash last night. Sic was one of my favorite riders, and I'd admittedly been in a funk since learning of his death and watching the footage.

When I rode my bike in to work today I thought I'd be doing so in memory of Marco, but to be honest once I get on the bike I focus on nothing but the road and traffic around me. I was grateful to make it into work safely, and will pray for safety on the way home as well.

RIP Marco Simoncelli, I'm going to miss you very, very much.

Was driving to Redding this Sunday morning around 7:30 am. Going through the Milpitas hills off 680, had the radio on and they started playing "Stairway to Heaven".... sighs
the song, then the hair...

Rest in peace Marco. sad to see such a young rider taken. condolences to his family and friends.:( :rip

win valencia for him rossi.......:thumbup

Knock it off. He was hit in the head by bikes probably going over a hundred. Those guys did EXACTLY what they were suppose to do: Tuck inside and aim where Marco WAS. It was a freak accident. Unless you build a bubble around the riders, nothing much would have helped.

First of all Marco was STILL moving - it is NOT like he was still. Second, unless there is more recent reports - Marco's fatal injuries were internal; thus nothing to do with the head. Now that this is clear, nobody is saying that any (known) additional safety measures would have helped. It is accepted that well... it was a freak accident, and that is that.

In any case, the only thing that could have saved marco, was... marco. First by not crashing (in duh, lap one - AGAIN), and most importantly by the (the often) futile attempt at hanging on the bike. But then, that IS Marco ... :-|

Although everybody is saddened (if not shocked), we will all miss him dearly... However, I am certain that a few of his competitors have mixed feelings.... of sadness and of relief....

One wonders IF Marco had been "dealt" more severely about his "wreakingball riding" he may have been alive today....

My condolanaces to Marcos's family and friends. RIP Marco.
