RIP Peter Lenz :(

:rip:rose:rose

So utterly heart wrenching. When I almost missed his name on the car radio I just prayed I didn't hear Peter Lenz, so then it would be a tragedy, but not a tragedy involving someone I knew of.

Whenever I saw Peter on the track it was usually him out-something me on a corner, and I always thought how much I admired his talent - so much skill and courage at such a young age.

Our sincerest condolences to the Lenz family.

Peter was at Keigwin's Intermediate School this year and crashed at turn 9 on the out lap of our "practice sprint race". Seeing his tumble, get up and kind of give a "dang, dang, dangit!" gesture reminded me not to take this all too seriously. Unfortunately, this is one of the serious moments in our hobby, his career.
I kinda pinched him off at the entrance to T-8 @ T-Hill and went over to apologize later. He just looked at me with those youthful, vibrant eyes and said "Hey, it was a clean pass, a clean pass. Great job!"
Might as well been Rossi, Spies, etc. saying it, because to me, he was the pro.
Great kid. Excellent rider.
Incredibly sad.
To Peter's family: Thanks for sharing him with all of us for such a brief while. His fire reminded me of someone else at 13.........:rip

I had the fun once of spending time on the track with these young USGPRU kids and it was an amazing, and humbling experience to see how fast these young kids are.

RIP Peter. You were one of the kids I admired the most :cry

Deepest condolences to friends and family. {HUGS} to Elena

110% Racer. Major injuries already, fighting to come back. Nobody did it better. RIP, little body, huge heart.

absolutly tragic! i went to the races and did not wanna see that......imo, if/when i go, i hope its on a bike.....RIP lil man

Oh my.... I've enjoyed watching the kid for the past couple of years and it's quite a shock to hear that he has passed. RIP, young Peter.

I have NO idea why the original thread was moved from here to Racer's Corner. There were more posts here and it was first. Anyway, maybe this one will join up with the original.

:rolleyes

damnit man,i just read about that too and was wondering what the outcome was,i guess I got my answer, too bad,:rose

As the father of a 7yr old road racer I can only imagine what the Lenz family is feeling. Our thoughts and prayers go out to them. My son Brenden loves watching youtube videos of Peter. "Dad he's so fast, did you see him pass that guy in the corner". RIP Peter #45

Dean and Brenden Ketelsen #44

ive been numb all day. In my almost 20 years doing this never have i taken such a loss so hard. Peter as many know was like the son i never had. Working with him all these years as a tiny little guy and his dad previously, was such a pleasure and privilege. just staying late last week to finish his bikes for Indy and seeing how excited he was and our little talk right before just makes my whole mind and heart ache. I will miss him so much and our shop wont be the same without him in our family. Mike and Jennifer are AMAZING parents and seeing how devoted Mike was to Peter was very inspirational to me as a new parent myself.

The world will never know now just how talented our lil man was. RIP my buddy.. ill miss you more than i could ever show.... :(

Very sad to hear about. Makes me rethink these very young racers.
I'm sure nobody in the family could concieve that this could happen.

Very sad indeed.
