Growing up in the UK, you learn lane discipline better than in the US (and much better than in CA). You stay in the far-right lane (the 'slow lane' equivalent to far-left here) and move out to pass. You also learn to a) get up to freeway speed quickly on the on-ramp; and b) let folks getting onto the freeway to join without blocking them.

It works surprisingly well when you know what you need to do and what you should do as a decent person.
