Skully P-1 what is your take on it?

So being out in Vegas now and CES starting this week Skully did a "demo" for their lids at the local Harley shop today. Ill just copy pasta what I said in Facebook

So went and checked out the skully helmet today. Got to say I wasn't impressed. No way of record what you're seeing while riding, no forward facing camera the "hud" screen is distracting to me and in to much of the line of sight, it doesn't hook up with your existing bikes electronics and to do it you will need another piece that they don't have available yet. Well unless you have an rsv4 factory anyways(its what they said it's hooked up with so far). The only thing I did like was the materials for the inner liner as they felt really nice and cool on the head. The fit was weird as I'm a rounding head and they said it was a round head shape but I wasn't feeling it, the medium didn't fit properly on my head and there wasn't a small around to try that on.
Basically for 1500 bucks they need to do more than what it does for me to part with the money.
YMMV

^ boney, there is a pretty big extensive review from some blogger/barfer - he was one of the 1st beta testers

i think you missed that

I think I did miss it. Did said blogger/barfer get to ride with it for a while? Please point me in the right direction...

Found this one: http://bayarearidersforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=459456&page=2
It is pretty much the same "review" I've seen from anyone who put one on their head.
Still no riding with one.

Last I heard, Skully had shipped.

I talked to someone with one of the "shipped" Skully helmets. Turns out it was a seeded tester, dude is still under NDA.

Hahahaha, that's awesome. Skully's HQ is half a block from my work and I walk by frequently, the staff seems to have thinned out recently. Wonder if those venture capitalist dollars are drying up.

The NDA makes me think that theyre a lot further from delivery than they're letting on.

Interestingly, I just heard back from him again this morning. He checked with Skully, and they're ok with him talking to me. Should be interesting.

Are you going to post his impressions here or is this reserved for Citybike?

Can't wait to hear more about this...

Guys, this is print, not some bullshit blog. We have an editorial calendar already built out, stuff already in progress. Frankly, I'm also not in a super-big hurry to run a story that is kinda close to shill status. I'd rather talk to some real customers that have received actual production helmets.

But as Mr. Zuzzo pointed out, the way to know if the story has come out is to get to a bike shop, pick up a copy, and read the mag. :thumbup :laughing

Agree with what Surj said, the articles in CityBike these days are really high quality.

And as another reader pointed out, the paper actually works great for fireplace kindling when you're done with it.

:thumbup Good for birdcages and stuffing shipping boxes too. Reuse, reduce... blah blah blah. :teeth
