Skully P-1 what is your take on it?

I got this in an email last week:

I unsubscribed from their emails, because they were full of shit. I think the straw that broke the camel's back was them selling the skully dog tags. What asshole okayed the PO to buy those? Then what bigger asshole bought some?

lol

Do you need to toss the helmet when the helmet part goes bad or can you move the guts to a new helmet to save money?

LOL I got this email as well. Looks like the CEO is making some bank but for the customers? Come on, sending out an email stating that your preorders from 20 years ago are finally coming out isn't exciting at all. That would piss me off more!

Uh oh, Skully, even BMW got tired of waiting for you.

BMW's concept motorcycle helmet has a heads-up display

I'm sure this will get picked up by a moto-specific source, hopefully with more information.

for it.
-situational awareness, such as lane splitting
-less turning of head. could be highly beneficial for those with neck or back injuries, or getting less of the neck impinging when head checking at high speed, even more valuable for those who might put on a ton of miles in a day
-situational awareness, such as navigation

downsides would be whether people can handle that much information at once. i bet most cannot.

Also syncing a GPS for turn by turn nav without having to look at GPS screen.

I would definitely consider getting one. . . . .if the price is right.

Wow, their image is taking a strong hit with the delays. I follow their facebook page and the skully team went from copy and past replies to replies from the CEO himself.

Pascal Cornaz You guy's did a fantastic job....to piss off your first customers. I don't think you realize how bad it is for your image. Keep delaying shipment and you will soon see the power of social media and word to mouth . But by all means keep on touring around the world....

SKULLY Systems
SKULLY Systems Hey Pascal, thank you for the feedback. The World Tour was only conducted for 3 weeks during May-June, and is not continuing any longer. The sole purpose of the World Tour was to allow pre-order customers to demo the AR-1 for the first time and ask whatever questions they had about the delay and the company as a whole. Had we not done this, nobody would know that the AR-1 physically exists. That said, it's not done. The voice commands have a major delay because they're all on board (don't require internet processing) and our iOS app has required a completely different technical implementation around phone pairing due to the way our system works. We aren't shipping until these get fixed, because it wouldn't represent the technology as it deserves to be represented. I could ship you a helmet right now, but it's not good enough for us yet so it certainly wouldn't be good enough for you. Group A is riding through El Nino to give us the data we need to refine it, and they're doing a bang up job of it. We want to rush helmets to your hands and not be talking about delays, but you would be doubly pissed if it showed up and didn't work like you expected. That's the straight answer from the horse's mouth. If you have any other questions, please message me directly via FB messenger. Ride safe, the weather is really bad out there. - Respectfully, Mitchell Weller

Oh, you mean same thing my Reevu, Bluetooth Android phone and UCLEAR headset do?

I was originally very stoked for this helmet. But then, well, the cost. The delays. The lack of information. The "test rides" being trying it on in a lab. Etc. All this time and STILL not one REAL ride report that I can find.

I've got an old Sena SMH-10 intercom and an X-grip ram mount that puts the phone in my field of view. Voice commands. Turn-by-turn directions. Intercom. Telephone. Spotify or pandora. The only thing I'm missing is the rear-view, and I suspect that I'm not really missing it that much...

There is (was?) a lot of potential for the Skully to be a great helmet, but they're getting behind the curve with all these delays. I still think the system that is going to win out is the stand alone setup that can be moved between helmets. If you don't think that Sena and all the other intercom companies aren't already working on one...:party

I went from "would have" bought one to "most likely won't."

^ boney, there is a pretty big extensive review from some blogger/barfer - he was one of the 1st beta testers

i think you missed that
