So Who Rode in Today?

any one have any sketchy moments lane splitting over the bott dots? Loss of traction? Or is it pretty safe to accidentally run over them?

On the onramp to 580 I gave it a little extra to push the rear out. Between the first rain and the painted lines, the rear end was fun and predictable. I encountered two riders from Oak to Redwood Shores. One filtering painfully slowly and another sitting in traffic. My Metzler Tourances live for this weather! If someone knows a better rain tire, let me know because I would be skeptical!

My left boot (it got its first rain test today) leaked too. What is up with the left boot? Luckily I had my wool socks on.

It was also the first commute with the headlight modulator on the GS. It is like night and day how the "seas part", especially in weather like this.

rode in today, from santa clara to redwood shores (101N, around 8:30am) .

Pouring rain.. Yay for my waterproof gear.

Saw only one other moto out. Pussies! :laughing

Rode from Campbell to Palo Alto left about 6:50. Was barely misting when I left then got pretty soaked on the DRZ while on 85. Saw about 5 other motos heading South.

I enjoyed the smell of rain this morning. By 11am in San Jose it was just wet enough to get the bike muddy and my socks wet, but not wet enough to wash the bike clean.

Ah, and thus begins 'I'm a real biker because I ride in the rain' season. Marking the end of 'He wasn't wearing gloves so he's a squid' season. :laughing

I really don't mind if it rains on my ride home, but it sucks getting to work and being wet and cold.

That was always my take when I commuted many years ago. Home in the rain was no big deal because I could pull my wet socks off, and make a hot rum and cocoa. :laughing

Heading to work in the rain, sucked. :thumbdown

mmm...hot cocoa tonight!

Meh. Just another day on 2 wheels.

I'd still rather split in the rain than wait in a car. It's a matter of convenience really.

I just ordered my Raingear (couldnt order sooner due to funds) I should have my 2-piece suit and glove liners this week for the next set of heavy rain next week. Unfortunately, I'll be caging the rain this week :(

Caged it.

I generally avoid the first major storm to allow the grease to be washed off.
Planning to ride the rest of the week.

I dont Start my day until 3pm but I get to test out these frogg toggs for the first time. Im hoping the dont leak in the crotch area cold wet balls are no Bueno.

Frog Toggs work great just don't nuke them on your exhaust pipe like I did.

My thoughts exactly.... rain or shine, I'm NOT sitting in traffic with everyone else. I left just after 7am today, light rain all the from Almaden to N. San Jose (N. 1st and Tasman). A guy at work asked me about riding in the wet and said "you're hard core!". I just laughed it off as I'm anything but that... I just have a low tolerance for traffic in the car.

103 miles round trip commuting on the Versys today and I saw 3 other bikes on the road, all going the other way.

One of the 3 riders was also on a Versys.

Also saw 1 other motorcycle and 1 scooter in the parking lot at work.

Nope. Not today. I actually needed the car today. I'll be out tomorrow though. On brand... new... tires. I barely have 50 miles on 'em. I am just a bit nervous about that. Should be OK though...

haha so much of this!! ^^

ive done my share of rain duty too. i'll take my nice cozy and warm vette thanks :party

I work at home. :teeth

I was lucky and had yesterday off...but woulda been riding had I had to work. I do want an oversuit though - my rain gear works well for light rain or for one trip/day, but once it sits wet...well, you know how it goes. Can't afford much, so will probably just end up with the cheapy BILT stuff, but since I'm wearing it over rain gear already I think it'll be enough to do what I need.

This morning it wasn't too bad - a real light mist for a bit and damp roads but no downpours. My dislike of traffic (and the time it takes out of my day) tends to keep me on the bike unless it's downright storming AND I have the option of using a car for the day (my truck won't fit in the parking garage where I work).

:laughing:rofl

I don't enjoy commuting in the rain. Cold is fine, but rain sucks. That said, I LOVE fun rides in the rain. The roads are empty, tires don't get worn out, and I can have a bit of fun spinning it up here and there. Anyone who hasn't tried riding the twisties in the rain should really give it a shot. It will help you become a smoother, more controlled rider. Every input is amplified. Braking, weight shifts, acceleration, etc. all have to be silky smooth. Rain riding also serves to remind me how mediocre I am as a rider :laughing

I decided if I could get it started without breaking a sweat I'd ride in.

Now I'm sitting on a PIG mat because even though I wiped the seat off - it looks like I straddled a sprinkler.
