StonyBARF 17 September 7, 8, 9, 10, 2023

They may not open for awhile

Elevation ranges from about 1700 to almost 6000 feet. Due to winter storm damage, the OHV trails and Deer Valley Campground are closed through June 30, 2023. For more information call (530) 963-3128.Feb 13, 2023

Hmm, yeah, I was wondering if things would be open in time for this upcoming Stonybarf.

Ill make a call as it approaches. Certainly after tomorrow’s atmospheric river.

my cal fire buddy out there told me stony is back open, he doesnt know about specific trails or areas tho, also im told the forestry station there in town burned down? i wonder if we could coordinate a trail clean up with this trip and also keep track of the hours we do so they put money into the ohv fund, i think its 26$ per voluntary man hour/per person.

Stonybarf still on?

So Sheet Iron 2023, which was suppose to take place 2 weeks AFTER Stonybarf, got cancelled. Does that mean SB will face similar fate?

3rd Saturday OHV Volunteer Workdays-Stonyford

Update just now...

We are moving forward with all your offerings to help clear trails, by scheduling 3rd Saturday of the month OHV Volunteer Work Days!
Weather permitting we will start off on April 15th.
Snow levels came down pretty low yesterday and it is raining again today.
In case you are curious, Fouts has received ~37” of rain since Christmas! 43” since October 1st.

Next week I will put together the details for the Work Day for Saturday 4/15.
Thanks!

ohh a volunteer day sounds like a fun event, even if there won't be much riding. Just a side note though, 4/15 is the same day as HHORA's Wild Wabbit race at Hollister. So some of us won't be able to attend the volunteer day... =(

Hi Butch--

Any updates from Paige on the workday scheduled for this coming Sat?

We should ask if there's an option for overnight camping on Fri or Sat for those of us coming long distances...would make logistics easier for barfers travelling from SFBA.

If this work day happens and we can get a good turnout, maybe the May Stonybarf trip will not have to be cancelled :thumbup

Yes!
got his this morning...

Good Morning!

Please join us this Saturday, April 15th for a Volunteer Work Day. We will meet at 10 AM on the Nail Track and reconvene by 4PM on the Nail Track.
After completing the sign in sheet and reviewing the Job Hazard Analysis, we will break out into groups and assign you to an area.
Your signature is required and reporting your mileage and location at the end of day is critical to the OHV grant.

Snow levels are rising with the warm days but there will still be some deep snow, especially on the north facing slopes.
Forecasted temperature for Saturday is high of 67°
Expect downed trees and hazards and be aware of your surroundings.
Before and after photos of the areas you work are great for reporting purposes.

If you are USFS Chainsaw Certified, great! If not, we will have folding handsaws for your use.

Thank you for your excitement in helping out on the trails and we look forward to seeing you on Saturday!

Maybe put this info on the work party page for that date

I will most likely be on the east coast again by the time September rolls around. I wonder if I could take like 3 weeks off work, ride the TAT out and join you guys. Pipe dream, but fun to think about.

We can always figure out a fly and ride option for an OG like you Aaron!

Hot take, life is short, no one is getting any younger, DO IT.

You guys rule. Once I figure out where the hell I'll be living in September, I will start to work out a plan.
