The debate about gear rages on

Not defensive at all and I'm about the last person who would "Thinly Veil" anything. I pretty much say what I feel.

You simply went off on a rant at me and I was not going to participate. Thus I just made the coffee comment. You are already high strung enough to need more caffeine or maybe had too much already when you posted. I don't know. Either way I don't really care and was just making a joke to lighten the situation which of course you didn't get or maybe just didn't like being the butt of. Again, don't know or care.

Be safe.

Yeah, that was some kind of terrible "rant". Poor fella.

Look who's talkin'!

:rolleyes:rolleyes:rolleyes

So I give props to our two-wheeled brothers who go riding at those speeds. You guys got some serious gonads to go that fast with only wicking gear and tiny wheels

Props to the bicycle guys, but the motorcycle guys are ignorant, stupid, organ donors...... ...?
Yep pretty simple to explain. Just got gas and went around behind the station in question to go out the side exit. There was a lane that went behind the station which is on my right with a parking lot to a strip mall on my left. As I came to the corner of the building (doing about 15mph or so) a truck came form the side of the building trying to cut across the parking lot. He was hugging the building on his left and I was on the road with the building on my right. So picture two people walking around a corner and meeting head on......same thing.

So when he popped out he was right on top of me. I could either Tbone him or slam on the brakes and lay the bike down. I will admit it was a panic situation as one minute all was cool and the exit to the main road was in sight then all of a sudden there was a truck less than 5ft in front of me. I'm not sure really if I laid the bike down or if the front washed out on gravel but the result was the same. It simply happened so damn quick that I barely registered the entire situation.

Simple enough. Lowside at 15mph or so. $3500 worth of damage to the bike +500 to replace my helmet. Witnessed and even his insurance company agreed he was at fault and thus paid.

Shit can happen. Even though looking back I did hold some responsibility and I surely could have prevented the situation if I had just slowed in anticipation of someone doing exactly what he did. However, I was focused on the exit and getting to work.
You didn't "lay it down...", you crashed. Old guys with faulty memories, re-living the old days, she. they went much faster in their minds, on bikes with very poor brakes, "laid 'er down", when actually, they just crashed.

I gathered some people wear gear, some people don't, and there are various degrees of butt hurt in both camps at the other.

Anything new? 39 pages in. Can someone sum up any new points that have been made in this thread?

:facepalm

Please edit your post to include more rage, we need to stay on topic :twofinger

uhhh where did I ever say that? you need to read before you post stupid shit that makes you look like a illiterate troll. Oh but wait, you probably are a troll considering your post history. I actually said something AGAINST about people calling gearless riders idiots just a few pages back. So next time you wanna troll, at least be more smart about it and not spout random shit. :thumbdown

*sigh*

:facepalm

Hey numbnuts, my point was the difference in attitudes here. You said the bicycle guys get props (I disagree with that, fuck 'em). Half the people on here say people that don't dress like they do are the idiots. I didn't say you said that. But aren't you the guy that defended the gangster lifestyle? GFY. Fuckin squid.

You've got poor comprehension, comprende?

The word "troll" is so played out, it's devoid of meaning anymore.

It's gotten to the point where people say it only because they can't think of a solid response to the other guy.

But Reli, it was very solid for a gangster wannabe squid. That ought to get to him.

If you got issues with cyclists, that your problem. And I never defended the gangster lifestyle, so you should go back and read the thread with your "good" comprehension. And don't go around call me shit when you don't know me. I shouldn't expect much from someone who labels people they haven't met, and generalizes an entire subsection of the population. You belong in the 17th century.

It couldn't possibly have been your post. :twofinger

Comprehension issues apparently.

Lighten up, Francis. If you can't understand, I wont hold it against you. You're a true gangsta.
