The Home Grower's Thread

Rick Simpson Oil really describes more of a process. You just use alcohol to extract all sorts of stuff from the plant and then cook off the alcohol. It's the best extract, imo. You get way more of the plant and potential benefits than other methods and the process is fairly safe. No gnarly drug lab equipment like butane stuff.

I have two methods now:

1. Long: 8 hours in Magical butter and then distill out alcohol and reduce to RSO/MBO. More terpines all such. I use sunlight to get rid of Cholorophyl.

2. Short: Mix for15-20 min in magnetic heat mixer on zero heat (or use the freezing ethanol/frozen bud mixture method) and same process. This one is THC and not the rest.

Good to know. I’m gonna have way too much to smoke.. :laughing

I just filled the humidifier and tapped a nug and they are dense. Also it's amazing the smell...you can't smell it if you're in the same room unless you unzip the tent.

So I realize an issue is when the lights are on I need a humidifier to keep it in the right range, but when the lights are off the humidity rises, not to unsafe levels but to non-ideal levels.

I guess I need some sort of controller like I'd use for a meat fridge. Or perhaps just a timer :)

Stripped the crunchy leaf ends looks great. Basically been watering solely with water mixed with base minerals, no nutrients. No issues.

I tested my San Francisco water straight from the tap:

~7.3 PH
~93 ppm

SO I'm thinking other than removing chlorine and chloramine the R/O process I am doing may just be a waste of time and water.

Thoughts?

93ppm is an indoor grower's wet dream. IMO. Especially hydro growers. Back in the days SF was such a sought after location for indoor grow specifically because of water quality (how does SF do it??) and cooler temperatures.

Optimal strategic location was never available and more than likely old power was also a factor (limited production) that made it hard to get something going.

So tomorrow is the end of my distilled water curing of 2 jars of buds.
What do you think will be the best way to dry the buds?
I’m thinking scatter on a pizza pan and set in the sun to dry out.

Better to use a dehumidifier or just a fan in a low humidity environment. Consider cutting them up into golf ball sized chunks on a mesh screen. You did water cure?

The high temps and hot spots on a sheet pan will degrade the potency some but with most high-test herb that won't ruin the effect, it just might improve it. Weed is too strong to enjoy a doob these days.

When the outside gets crispy (if it does), pop it back in a bag to migrate the moisture to the outside of the buds and dry again. Curious about results here. My friend water cured really good flower and decarbed and lost all potency. Terps and THC is fragile.

^beeyootifull!

So the water cured bud, smokes real nice and is a nice buzz. It did lose some flavor.

The air cured bud tastes better and seems to be a more heady buzz. Also not as smooth.
Blue Dream Hybrid strain. 60/40 Sativa/Indica

I just ordered 100 L of cococoir/perlite for a new set of plants. Going all out this time 4 plants not 1. All auto flower.

Those are some dense looking nuggets HH!!!

Going to try water curing again. This time I will dry more properly.
