The NHL Thread, 2012/2013 season

Via Brodie Brazil, here's a picture of Clowe at his first practice with the San Francisco Bulls:

Rumors going around that Winter Classic will be cancelled on Thursday......if that happens, which seems likely at this point, you could write off the entire season.

I dun o, basketball got it going after xmas and the Heat won. You almost forgot they wrre locked out even..

Granted bb is lame, but it didnt phase em.

My take on it stems from the implied importance of the Winter Classic, you konw as well as I, there has been massive emphasis on the WC since it's inception. Granted this is a ASG year, the host city is lackluster Columbus, far from being the ideal of host cities.

Bettman is a fuckhead, and I wish him to be gone. Unfortunately, how do you fire the boss...

OMG, that sounds awesome !!

OK here's the rundown:

-unless we get 50+ people, we won't be able to play broomball or have an intermission thing. that's fine with me.

-we need at least 10. I prefer the box seats (will be $30/ticket.) Box seats for group parties consist of 5 rows of 8. I prefer a smaller crowd (like 16 would seem to be a good #), so I'm not going to advertise this to all of BARF...just in this thread.

-sections 58 and 60 is right next to the beer garden...

-they'll announce our group name over the intercom and show it on the big screen.

-one person in our group will be given either an autograph stick or a puck via raffle.

-I'm thinking Friday December 7 vs. the Colorado Eagles. 1) "Teddy Bear Toss Night", bring new stuffed animals which we can throw on the ice after the Bulls' first goal. they will be donated to some local charity. 2) they'll play some sort of hockey bingo which we can win more prizes with.

-I'll be bringing my family so feel free to include yours.

-I'm planning on getting a Ryane Clowe Bulls jersey to represent

anyone tentatively-or-better in?

:banana

I'm a tentative and I'll work on clearing/saving the date as soon as possible, with confirmation to follow if I'm successful.

As I said to Kevin Kurz, the NHL is WILLINGLY paddling down shit creek, and with no end in sight.

Yeah its downright mind boggling to see what's happening with the NHL right now. How is it that they cannot grasp the damage they are doing right now? Maybe they presume the fans will continue to give them money when they decide to agree and return.

I'd be interested in the SF Bulls game too. Keep us posted!

Sad to hear about Winter Classic being canceled, but honestly, we all knew it was coming.

The motto of this lockout that resonates with me is, "love the sport, hate the league."

Alright, good to hear from those that are interested! here's the current sitchiation:

-sections 58 and 60 are near the beer garden, but I was told by the customer service dude that it is somewhat obstructed view due to the people walking in and out of the beer garden. Also I believe the other box-seat corners I know will have the net as a partial obstruction.
I would now like to move us.

attached is the seating options for groups. I'm now leaning towards section 21. 1) it is a good value ($4 off of $26 is more savings than $4 off of 34), and 2) cow palace is so tiny that these are still good seats, and 3) more fam-friendly as there will probably be a few kiddos, and 4) jesus we can just walk to the beer garden, it's not like we have to be stumbling distance from it.
thoughts?

-it'll be tough for me to shell out several hundred dollars at once to buy the tix, so is it possible for youz to paypal me if you are in? also this would ensure I don't get screwed by buying tix and then get stuck with them if ppl flake out. Is this the right way to do it? If there is a better way please let me know.

so here we go. December 7 Friday. I will put in a deposit soon, and finalize the order to sfBulls on Monday Nov 13. I will keep updating the in-count as the funds are received.

questions?

so far the in-count:

1) me + 3

:Port

Fixed that for ya.

There is no doubt in my mind that the NHLPA has some doing in this mess, but I also believe that the NHL has been the primary agitator. As I understand the NHL BoG position; the Commish needs only 8 owners consent to call for a lockout, which is bullshit in my opinion, but so long as Bettman and his cronies are at the head table, nothing will happen anytime soon.
